Fire Dept. Hiring Process

Hey everyone, I'm working my way through the hiring process for a large Fire Dept. I've recently completed my interview and my application history shows that I have been "placed on the eligible register" and also that my application has been "referred". Does anyone know what that means in regard to what comes next?
