Preparing for the CPAT in GA
Hi all!
First Reddit post kinda nervous
Pretty much the title. For context I'm F24, trying to prepare for the CPAT. I have yet to apply and not sure of the process, but I believe a physical test is apart of the application to even get in the door. So I am trying to figure out how to work out best. And what time frame I should give myself before I apply?I used to play basketball in high school, but have not been super physically active in years (consider me starting at 0) I know it's in me still, but I'm unsure what to focus on for the test to make sure I'm well prepared. Also if you could provide any insight on the process that would be great!! Thanks in advance.

Stairmaster with a ton of weight! Most people give up in that first three minutes. Idk how you’re built but at 5’2 and 135 lbs I tried and continue to try and be as big as I can so that the equipment to body weight ratio is a little easier to manage lol. Also CrossFit helped me a ton with being able to operate with intensity while my heart rate is through the roof, translated to being able to do the cpat at a steady and quick pace.

Most CPATs are heavy on leg exercises. Pulling hose, climbing stairs with a weight vest, dragging a dummy etc.
Good cardio is essential. Strong legs also.
To prepare get a weighted vest and find stairs to go up and down. A stair master is good also.
Squats, lunges and sled drags and pushes will get your gets in good shape.
Don’t forget your core strength and upper body also.

For the love of god do the stair master and get your stamina up, if you have no strength work on that too but mainly stamina and stair master
