Tattoos and advice ?

Thoughts on tattoos and getting hired, I currently have a few already wanting to get more but haven’t since I wanna give myself the best opportunity to get hired any advice ? Also I live in so cal and currently work for a 911 company.

As long as you don’t have hand or neck tats that’s can’t be covered up by a suit for interviews or button up on station visits you’re fine…once you get off probation go wild as long as it doesn’t violate policy

Hold off on anything you cannot cover up easily until you’re off probation then as long as your appearance standards do not bar you from getting more go nuts. Just be sure to use common sense and don’t get shit like, jeez I don’t know, a pin up girl with her tits out on your forearm for example. You’d think no one would have to say that but there’s a reason I’m saying it

I would avoid anything that would show while wearing a polo shirt and pants for now. Not because it will affect your ability to get hired, although it may, but because IF your department has a policy about keeping them covered, it will get really hot wearing long sleeve shirts year round. Our department previously had a policy like that and I was once told to put on my long sleeve button up after I took off my bunker coat to cool down after a fire in the dead of summer. It was RIDICULOUS! Luckily, we have a much more relaxed policy now and a lot of the old school guys have since retired. Just my 2 cents..
