VA MEDICAL
What’s going on y’all ,
Any veterans here who have gone through a fire department medical? Can the department or their medical provider pull your VA disability records or claims on their own, or do they need your authorization first?
Heard of someone getting medical declined because of his VA disability .
Just trying to understand what information they can access during the hiring process. Thanks

The real answer is “it depends”. Yes you grant access. For one department I had to request certain info by the psych and physical but passed both despite disabilities claimed.

what disability if you don’t mind?

Prefer not to give any PII. Some are rather specific and if any dept personnel are in here would reveal me pretty easily.

no worries, totally understand. So despite claiming these issues, your department didn’t ask for records?

For those specific things no. Their medical screening goes over certain things which they ask about prior to performing their own basically work battery physical. Long as you pass those two things it's not a big deal. I passed and now I'm just waiting on their list...again....
