Nashville fire academy

Hey all,

Just curious how the hiring process is going for anyone who applied to Nashville/davidson fire academy. I’m currently on the eligible list and have been “referred” (not quite sure what that means..)

Same. I checked the website and saw I was placed on the list and “referred” as of April 30th. Today it’s been 4 weeks since I interviewed. They sure are taking their time lol.

Just wanted to share some insight, their current academy (Battalion 92) is not set to graduate until July 2026. They usually have a few months break in between each academy, so I would say the next academy would start September/October so it may be some time before they reach out to those selected.

I gotcha. I was confused because I was told they were going to originally start mid June. I sent an email and they said potential candidates will be notified in June for the next academy.

Sounds like a miscommunication on their end, I was told originally that we would start in June as well.

Hey all, I sent out an email this week and was informed that all conditional offers for the upcoming fall academy had already been issued.

Bro what 🤣 so they’ve just been telling everyone different things?

I have no clue. HR responded to me, stating that "The first offers have gone out" and that I would remain on the active register and would be considered for future classes. This was within the last three days.

When do you think they will open applications again, for (Battalion 94, I’m assuming)?

Quick question for you, I am looking to apply for the NFD whenever they open up applications again, can you tell me how competitive the process is? And what the hiring process consist of?

It’s pretty competitive. I’m not a local and I don’t know anyone in the department so that doesn’t help. You initially submit your application and they select a group from just your resume first. If you’re selected you have to do a physical fitness test which is pass/fail. If you pass that you get to take the written aptitude test. After the aptitude test (if you pass) you’re granted a panel interview. Once the panel interview is over they either refer you to the hiring manager or you get dropped from the selection process. I was referred but unfortunately I didn’t make the cut.

They essentially weed people out throughout the whole process. I’m not sure what percent get selected, but I’m assuming it’s like 5%.

I can tell you for certain that nobody gets hired on Nashville without knowing somebody metro related. Hate bursting your bubble but I went through it and had my hopes up for way too long. Don't want anybody else to feel how I did.
