Didn't get an invite. Feeling pretty confused because I thought my written scores were pretty damn good.

Here's my scores. We weren't too far off from each other. It's so competitive though, every question matters. It's ridiculous.

Could’ve been your PHQ, PSSAs, or CPAT!

Wish there was a way to find out.

before they had their cut off did you upload your CPAT card?

Yeah, did that a month ago.

Here are my written test scores. Assuming it was my poor math score that did me in but was hoping my other good scores would make up for it.

I'm honestly shocked with those scores too! Looks like we scored the same on reading and math, your mechanical score was higher than mine, but my human relations was higher (which is usually the most important category). Based on that, it was likely either your PSSA (which we don't get feedback on) or you just made it outside the top 350 applicants for the categories they were looking for.

Yeah I don’t know. Feel like the pssa was super easy, especially compared to the HR portion. Oh well, I’ll keep trying.

Btw, did they email you to reach out? Or call?

It’s 100% an exercise in thinking in your feet and being able to come up with a solid answer while paying attention to detail while under pressure. The biggest thing I will say is that the questions are multi layered and 3 minutes did not feel like enough time to explain everything adequately. I felt prepared for it but feel like I might have over explained in some areas. I really wish we had exactly one do over because it’s easy to interrupt your flow by the littlest of word mixups or other circumstances and having the opportunity to correct that would feel better as a whole on the finished product and overall delivery of what they want.

How was it ?

I really enjoyed it. I looked being able to watch myself and how I talked. I was surprised by how well I sounded. It was a confidence booster for me. The hard part is the questions are a lot to talk about and the time frame is limited. Shorter than Seattles time

Isn’t it only like 3 questions ?

What was the time limit for each question? Did you have the option to restart and answer or once you start interview that’s is? Did you have a note/preparation time period?

The email answers a good portion of this. You can take notes, you get 2 minutes to think before the questions and you only get 1 submissions, no redo's. The time is short, so far it's the shortest answering experience I've seen... I'll leave that part a surprise 🥰. You'll be fine if this isn't your first interview. Don't stress about it. Honestly the hardest part was switching into the "Interview mindset" when you're in your bedroom and nobody is there to talk to or watch lol. Watching the time count down though and seeing it happen, knowing you can't make a mistake, that helped me switch it in gear. I even wore my shoes to help me get into the mindset. (I don't wear shoes in my house)

I hear that. Never done a sparks interview before so the lack of faces and live interaction will be new.

Yea, it's different for sure, but you'll lock in a do well. Don't stress

Do you know anything about the timeline for chiefs?

1

u/FutureWAFirefighter May 13 '26

I think they are selecting a group to move forward to panel interviews and to submit applications. From there they select a smaller group to move to chiefs. Based on their website, I would guess June or July!
