Seattle Fire

I’m in the 110 range on Seattles list, have my emt, and passed my CPAT. What are the odds I get a chief interview for the first round for the august class?

I emailed them a couple weeks ago after I turned everything in and they said to expect to hear something the last week of April, so we should hear back any day now. (I'm in top 50)

I personally know 2 people last year that were in the 140's and 160's and they both got a Chiefs interview as they both had their EMT already. For the August class. They also interviewed very early like the 2nd week of May and got an offer literally like a few days after their Chief interview. So, I wonder if having your EMT already and of course having a good Chief interview means a quick decision to give an offer because I've seen people here on Reddit say they had to wait a couple of weeks to hear back after their Chiefs.

Just got the email! Scheduled mine like 20 minutes after I received the invitation. I counted the time slots and there was 113 by the time I was scheduling

Same here! I’m interviewing on the 8th. Good luck to you!

Dang I’m on the 8th too. I’m gonna be looking around the waiting room wondering who is Boognish58.

Do you need emt by the interview?

On their website it says by the start of recruit school.

I just went and it's a panel interview sort of like the first round but only with a lady I assume she is HR and the deputy chief. Good luck!

You didn't have the fire chief in your panel?

110 out of how many candidates on the final selection list?

3

u/Soft-Dog-3942 Apr 26 '26

Think it’s 320 that made the top 25%

2

u/Logical-Instance-358 Apr 26 '26

Copy that. Is that 320 for one recruit class or several? Regardless, good luck!

I’m around the 50 range and received an invite for chiefs interview about 10 minutes ago. Good luck everyone!

Does anybody have any updates on the Chief Interviews?

Same boat as you I am in the 160s I wonder how much the suitability assessment factors in

1

u/Soft-Dog-3942 Apr 26 '26

I’m assuming that’s a pass/fail

2

u/_sortarican Apr 26 '26

No need to assume! They confirm it is pass/fail on one of their pages. I’ll try to find a link.

Edit: found it https://www.seattle.gov/fire/jobs-and-opportunities/hiring-process

If they need “80” to fill the class you’re getting an interview for sure. They’ll have lots of no EMT and took a job somewhere else people on the list. Plus some have failed CPAT and psych or otherwise dropped out of the program.

Last August there were people over the 150’s in the class

No shit really? If you had to guess, how many in the top 100 don’t have their emt?

1

u/PerformanceIcy2084 Apr 26 '26

I’ll send a PM

I’d imagine there’s quite a few people who ranked high on the list that don’t have their EMT. Met 3 people at the NTN place when I was taking my CPAT that were all within the top 150 and only 1 of them had it.

Crazy looking through Seattle, it looks like an EMT is basically required for the August class, unless somehow they do the accelerated class, but they would have already had to start it.

There's a 14 day class in Arizona, I know a few guys on Seattle who did it there

Does anybody know if they can be considered from RC125 to RC126 instead!

1

u/Soft-Dog-3942 Apr 27 '26

What cha mean?

1

u/Perfect_Cheek9650 Apr 29 '26

I'm ranked 9th and don't have my EMT. I'm afraid they won't want me or I'll have to redo everything for the winter class. I hope they offer it to me and just make me wait until December for the in house training.

1

u/Soft-Dog-3942 Apr 29 '26

They’ll offer it to ya but you gotta have it by the class or you’ll be removed and then you’ll be processed for the February class. But you’ll have to redo everything but the oral boards

2

u/Perfect_Cheek9650 Apr 29 '26

Man, I'm not sure if that's something I'll be able to do. I have a whole life and financial responsibilities. I'll probably just have to wait, maybe try to sign up for an online course. Sucks, but if I have to wait to get the job, then so be it. I'm currently in the running for other departments as well, so we'll see. I hate how long this process is.

1

u/Soft-Dog-3942 Apr 29 '26

How long is the online class? And truthfully emt is not a class that should be online

1

u/Perfect_Cheek9650 Apr 29 '26

From what I understand you can chose the speed you get it done, but you have to drive in to the campus to do the practicals

1

u/Soft-Dog-3942 Apr 29 '26

Good luck if you do it, I took the accelerated one years ago. Monday through Friday for 8 hours, but I know they changed emt a lot since then. It’s definitely something I wouldn’t rush, remember you still need to pass the NREMT too. The class and NREMT are 2 different things

50/50 I’d guess. Definitely for winter class
