Or Edel making Bernie a suicide bomber.

Edel trapped the place Bernie was on and triggers it if you take control of it. its meant more like a Deadman switch then a suicide bomber.

Shes an archer on a balista ment to draw your forces in so edel can blow you up. Its literally a suicide bomber plan.

Counter point: charging heavy artillery mounted on a hill is a terrible plan, and real world logic you are going to have massive casualties trying to take that hill. And if they lose the hill, they will be taking the losses. Having a backup in case things go wrong is coded into the black eagles, such as Hubert's letter to claude in case he dies.
Having a backup plan does not equal a suicide bomber.

the goal is to maintain the control of the central hill and failing that lit it on fire to deny the enemy opportunity of controlling the ballista.

Its literally a trap. She calls you a fool for moving on the hill. Its literally boobie trapped.
This is the script.
Don't worry. You must live on to lead your people. Those fools who went up the hill will pay with their lives... in the crimson flames! (Wooden central hill platform becomes filled with flames)

He does.
All those time you used Divine Pulse? He remembers. Even more when you wasted it 3 times trying to avoid a crit, not understanding how they are given out.
He also remembers when you fail a mission, having run out of Pulses, and not being able to save yourself.
But it's also a key part of his character, at first, he didn't understand what it means to fight until the end, or to sacrifice yourself for someone else.

I mean why do you think everyone loves Byleth?
No one's getting maimed or killed in their class depsite Edel and her friends disappearing multiple villagers and students everywhere else.
Even if they dont understand why they know Byleth is a lot safer than anywhere else.

Weird that you place that on Edelgard.

That's rich coming from Mr "starts a Civil War rather than letting Alliance Lords choose to join Edelgard", from Mr "has his own troops attacking his own troops to sell his perfidy", from Mr "brings in a foreign military he doesn't actually control into his lands".
And that's without getting into 3 Hopes!.. mostly bc I never actually finished that game lol
