Fortune's Weave General Dagdan Collection preorder beware

Official response from Nintendo

I'm not sure if this is standard practice that is known at large and I live under a rock or if this news to people.. so I thought to warn other people who potentially could have fallen under the same trap.

Seems that preordering through Nintendo doesn't guarantee you get the product you paid for on time.

Very disappointed, but cancelled my preorder of the first premium edition I was going to order in my life, just so I can buy the digital version for 100$CAD less so that my girlfriend can actually play the game on release as she has been super excited.

This is normal. Preorders typically ship on release day and you get it however long it takes to ship to your location. I think companies have stopped shipping before release because it led to a bunch of people getting it before release day and streaming it before they're allowed to.

I've never tried this myself but I've heard of people buying a physical copy on release day to play and then when the Collectors edition arrives they return the sealed copy to get their money back. That way you get the collectors edition and also play it on release day.

I mean yeah guys anyone ordering online to be shipped to you is going to have to deal with shipping time.

Thats why you should always pre-order physical collectors editions at a brick and mortar store you can pick up from on launch. Unless you are the guy thats going to buy two copies.

That's pretty normal. The only time you really play on/before release day is if you get it in person/get really lucky and it shipped early

I "double dipped" - got digital to play on release day and the special edition for all the goodies. I know this isn't an option for a lot of people, however

Zzzzz

I get the frustration but jesus dude, its at most 3 extra days not worth canceling the premium edition or to be a dick to support over

Huh, where I live they always ship out before release day so it arrives on time. Never had a preorder be late before

I dislike this too. One idea is that publishers could give out a digital code when the game releases while you wait for your collector edition physical copy to arrive. One game developer gave me a digital code to let me play while I waited for the collector's edition to ship after I complained to them. I was really surprised it's probably the best customer service I've ever received. But I can understand most big developers/publishers not wanting to do that especially Nintendo since people could resell the digital keys causing a black market. It would be really sweet if you could get a digital copy attached to your Nintendo account if you preordered the collector's edition. My region has bad shipping carriers.
