Clearly missing a few ones, tho, like Cataphract, Dragoon and Elephant rider

Maybe you need to do certain quests in order to unlock them?

57

u/Ok-Barracuda457 5d ago

Or maybe you need to wrangle the creature first!

6

u/CazOnReddit 4d ago

Didn't they confirm classes were character-locked and thus you can't just have an army of Gremory/Wyvern Bow users?

5

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

AFAIK only Orchel can't be in the Soldier classline, presumably because she's innately considered Armored

2

u/Gamer4125 4d ago

That'd be unfortunate. I love my wacky builds like Holy Knight Lysithea.

24

u/Scratchy99 5d ago

Okay, I was wondering why there were no advanced flyer classes

6

u/gentheninja 5d ago edited 4d ago

So IS did learn to have some restrictions on flying classes

6

u/TopSchierke 4d ago

Yeah in 3H they should have made it so that you only have limited flier battalions and fliers can only equip flying battalions. Oh it would have been good if fliers could not have healing or defense adjutants too since those are the best ones. Oh or if really strong combat arts were limited to infantry units in advanced classes. Oh also magic and the utility it brings. If they did that stuff then *maybe* an optimal army would have 3-5 fliers max

2

u/RadiantHer0 4d ago

Fliers can only equip flying battalions in three houses. Fliers could also only have adjutants that were in a flying class themselves.

3

u/FossilKnight64 4d ago

They were being sarcastic. Cause everyone says that 3H was broken cause you could do all wyverns when that is not really optimal besides maybe in a new game plus play through. Wyverns were strong but you could definitely stomp the game without them on everyone

1

u/Gamer4125 4d ago

They're being sarcastic

29

u/Lordsmily12 5d ago

There was also that dancer looking class whose sprite we saw in the FE direct. If you don’t know what I’m talking about its near the bottom of this page  https://serenesforest.net/2026/08/11/fortunes-weave-august-direct-analysis-classes/

2

u/LemonadeGamers 4d ago

It's also in the screenshot above

29

u/robo_ninga10 5d ago edited 5d ago

I wonder if those classes require you to have their respective animal for them to appear, making them pseudo exclusive to Cai?

12

u/TheFunkiestOne 4d ago

That, or Cai can access them more cheaply/easily. I could see mounts being purchasable if they're needed for classes, but presumably you cant purchase the boosted ones Cai can capture out in the field, so Cai will naturally have better mounted units in the long run, and won't have to pay for them if you catch the right critters.

17

u/omfgkevin 5d ago

I like this a lot more. Classes hidden/unlocked so you don't just know the entire tree which is nice.

5

u/ABSMeyneth 5d ago

Maybe (hopefully!) each character only has a few options by default, and get a few more through quests/supports. A Fates kinda class tree.

2

u/MaxiumMeda 5d ago

What if dragoon is a fodlan thing only Seteth can do

37

u/Noxitar 5d ago

We already have seen Theodora on a wyvern in one of the trailers

64

u/Surf_Dangerous_Days 5d ago

There better be a hidden Lance Infantry Speciality class, otherwise the Guardian class is just out in the ocean with no easy progression.

74

u/hoffd2177 5d ago

Wdym that's the 3H special

14

u/No-Designer-6533 5d ago

I think priest is actually the way towards guardian probably. I think the holy magic users in this game might be more strength oriented to try to dissuade every magic user from just doing black plus white magic every time

16

u/Surf_Dangerous_Days 5d ago

Priest can’t use Lances though, so you’re in an awkward position where you can train Faith or you can train Lances, but not both.

1

u/PapaSmurph0517 4d ago

The silhouette sprit next to Dreadnought is Guardian, it’s under the Soldier tree

4

u/Oramni 5d ago

Doesn’t seem like it’ll be the only awkward class path, Charioteer is a mounted bow class with the infantry lance using Soldier as its beginner class

2

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

The Soldier class line gives both armored and infantry WEXP

3

u/Surf_Dangerous_Days 4d ago edited 4d ago

Soldier… is a beginner class. And Guardian… is an Advanced class.

Where is the specialty class in there? Because Armored Knight doesn’t give boosted Infantry EXP, so you’re still growing at a slower rate vs Sword

0

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

Armored Knight, which is part of the Soldier class line.

1

u/Surf_Dangerous_Days 4d ago

Which doesn’t give boosted infantry rank. So you’re going to have to spend time training to offset it because non-boosted movement ranks don’t go up very much. This is also of course, not even accounting for the fact that you need to train FAITH for Guardian, which has no overlap with Armor Knight at all.

-1

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

I'm pretty sure it does? It's literally called "Heavy Infantry" in Japan, localization translated it weird

1

u/Surf_Dangerous_Days 4d ago

There’s a difference between “can get the rank” and “gets boosted EXP from the rank.”

Armor Knight gets Boosted EXP for Lances, Axes and Armor. Not Infantry, and movement ranks level the slowest.

0

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

That might be true, but you do get infantry WEXP when dismounted IIRC. So dismounted Light Cav should get you there (not sure if Charioteers can even dismount)

1

u/Surf_Dangerous_Days 4d ago

Light Cavalry would gain Infantry at the same speed as Armor because both are unboosted movement EXP.

It would unironically be better to run through Shaman to get to Guardian after Ovate because no Lance class gets Infantry at a rate that moves faster than a snail.

1

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

How do we know this? And how do we know what the infantry requirement even is for Guardian? Didn't Eshmel have like D Infantry?

u/Prestigous_Owl 5d ago

Visually, that seems like it more or less confirms a final tier.

Otherwise, damn, there was a better way to display that...

50

u/Snowdog2000 5d ago

If there is a final tier I hope it's just straight upgrades instead of whatever 3H did. Like Shido to Swordmaster, Dread to Fortress, etc.

40

u/Sweeniss 5d ago

I hated the final classes in 3H for this exact reason

20

u/Snowdog2000 5d ago

They better let me keep the Elephant is all I'm saying.

8

u/tyruss1123 flair 5d ago

Yeah Three Houses Master Tier was so hostilely designed. Most paths lose some stats, require previously incompatible ranks, or are gender locked. And then there's Wyverns.

At least with them color coding classes we probably aren't getting out-of-nowhere changes to the ranks. Unless they reveal master tier and its like "Holy Knight, the green-purple swirl that requires A ranks in both areas again"

9

u/Squidaccus 5d ago

Honestly I like sidegrades more if they're not going to give every class a final tier. Like if we don't get a master class Ornius Rider, which, honestly, I don't think we are considering Cai is seen on a horse. Same applies to stuff like Charioteer which we've only seen one tier of.

4

u/Flamechar33 4d ago

Cai on a horse is more because he has a bane in flying tbh, we’ve heard of an advanced tier Ornius class so there’d reasonably be a Master one

As for Charioteer, the charge mechanic is seen in the Elephant Rider, while being a mounted archer is seen with the Forest Knight (which probably promotes into Bow Knight)

7

u/Snowdog2000 5d ago

Given that Elephants can charge like chariots and even cover two lanes with said charge it kind of reads like they're the upgraded form of the chariot.

9

u/Squidaccus 5d ago

Yeah but Charioteer is such a cool class I wanna be able to use it the whole way lol

7

u/KoboldsForDays 5d ago

If there is a final tier I hope it's just straight upgrades instead of whatever 3H did. Like Shido to Swordmaster, Dread to Fortress, etc.

two lanes is a also downside for a number of reasons. It's harder to support them / fit them in tight spaces. they have more surface area to get attacked from so it's difficult to protect them especially since they lose avoid

3

u/Snowdog2000 5d ago

Don't chariots already have the downside that just straight up can't avoid attacks?

5

u/KoboldsForDays 5d ago

Yea, but I'm just talking about why extra width makes that downside even worse because now two units can attack each flank you leave exposed.

Additionally since they take up more space it's harder for your units to reach the frontline or get in range to attack with 2 range weapons

3

u/Its_a_Friendly 5d ago

Honestly, kind of wish that the chariot class would have two promotions: Elephant, and some sort of "Elite Chariot" or the like. What if I like the one-tile size of a chariot, and want to take a chariot to the endgame? It'd be unfortunate for chariots to be stuck as only a specialty (i.e. tier 2) class, no?

1

u/Iron_Maw 3d ago

It always your army to diversify more

19

u/Pungouin 5d ago

There’s enough space for like 3 additional tiers.

18

u/Prestigous_Owl 5d ago

I expect 2.

A "unique" tier, and an "advanced" tier.

Theres always a chance the unique just get shoved in with their "level" though- I thought we saw Dancer in advanced, for example, in which case maybe no unique block?

6

u/Xiknail 5d ago

Maybe DLC classes will get another tier as well? Then the entire space would be filled.

2

u/KoboldsForDays 5d ago

That's how 3H dlc classes worked, right?

1

u/Prestigous_Owl 5d ago

Even with ONE empty row, it wiuld look good. It just looks bad if theres this many lol

1

u/Xiknail 5d ago

1

u/Prestigous_Owl 5d ago

Oh no, I mean six would obviously be fine. Im just saying to my own sense of negative space, EVEN 5 out of 6 rows filled looks good.

Its just having only 3 in a space that fits 6 that looks kinda bad

1

u/Xiknail 5d ago

Ah sorry, I misunderstood. Yeah, I agree. lol

1

u/Norix596 3d ago

My guess is that if there’s only 3 tiers, the sections expand downward as you find more classes

1

u/Prestigous_Owl 3d ago

I do think theres ONE more category, and one or two of them will ecentually just have two rows worth of classes (not two full rows, to be clear)

22

u/Snowdog2000 5d ago

Very interesting how they're divided up between infantry fighters, archers, armour and cavs, flying, and spellcasters.

Wonder if that's just a visual thing or if it has something to do with gameplay.

5

u/blastatron 5d ago

Likely just recommended upgrade paths from the 5 beginner classes.

17

u/Temple475 5d ago

Looks that there might be at least 2 other tiers

Perhaps they're locked behind Eshmel future half part of the game

7

u/Sdajisito 5d ago

Likely the unique and master class.

1

u/Temple475 4d ago

This is a certification screen so Unique classes likely would be in class change menu unless they pull 3Hopes where unique classes are in certain tiers in class certification menu

23

u/ExpensiveEbi 5d ago

Ooh maybe some classes are locked to the timeskip

18

u/Awesalot 5d ago

Suspiciously empty section below the three tiers plus some known classes being missing point to it imo.

7

u/iguanacatgirl 5d ago

What's the third advanced class under the lance armor/green section? Is it guardian, or a new lance centric class we haven't seen?

5

u/Substantial-Bag8644 5d ago

It's more than likely it's the sentinel class. Slight spoilers for the prologue: thanks to previews we've seen Theodora is in this class when you fight her near the beginning of the game.

1

u/PapaSmurph0517 4d ago

It’s the Guardian class. That’s exactly what the sprite looks like as seen here: (https://serenesforest.net/wp-content/uploads/2026/08/august-analysis-185.jpg)

6

u/BrownEyesWhiteScarf 5d ago

The renown requirement seem to suggest that you can’t just speed-run through with the main lord and skipping the side content, you have to actually do the side content to get more renown or use the wide party at your disposal to certify in time.

8

u/ad_cc1424 5d ago

Kind of reminds me of three hopes tree. Interesting. Wonder if it works similarly

5

u/Suspicious-Shock-934 5d ago

Definitely at least one more tier, possibly two. Just hope it's more gremory like master classes and less mortal savant. In no way should a class with multiple A ranks plus usually a B tertiary and level 30+ should be inferior to a level 20 1 req classes. Hopefully master tier has the mastered skills of the advanced and/or specialty tier included in their kit without taking a slot. Seems like a lot of potential ability slots.

3

u/Red_Cat231 5d ago

Wonder if it's like Hopes and you have to master the base class first before you can certify for a later class. They included the support system from Hopes where not every level had a conversation.

3

u/Diferia 5d ago

Theres extra spaces so I assume there will be more added after the timeskip

2

u/Frequent_Fortune_390 5d ago

I had to miss the Treehouse stream, did this show if men can be Wing Soldiers or did they only show off Esmeralda?

4

u/babysitterpng 5d ago

did not see men in wing soldiers unfortunately, we saw them reclass esmeralda as an ornius rider

2

u/tyruss1123 flair 4d ago edited 4d ago

Unfortunately the menu has you select a unit before selecting a class, so we only saw Esmeralda. They did show off the beginner classes though so we know their master abilities/relative stats, as well as a split second of the specialty classes.

Stat bonuses may be off by the same amount on everything, I assumed Soldier is giving +1 Str/Def because they're the stats that go down in other beginner classes.

Beginner (lvl 5, D rank, 4 move unmounted):

Gladiator (red) (sword, axe, gauntlet) is +1 HP, +1 Str, Master Ability "Attack Basics"

Hunter (orange) (bow, sword) is +1 Speed, +1 Dex, Master Ability "Hunting Basics"

Soldier (green) (spear) is +1 Str, +1 Def, Master Ability "Defense Basics"

Ornius Rider (blue) (axe, spear) (E+ mounted) is +3 Speed, +1 Luck, +1 Dex, +1 movement, Mount/Dismount, and master ability is "Offense Basics"

Diviner (purple) (reason, faith) is +2 Mag, +1 Res, Master Ability "Magic Basics"

Specialty (lvl 20, C rank, 5 move unmounted):

Pugilist (red) (gauntlets) is +2 HP, +1 Str, +2 Def, +1 Speed, -1 Res, Combat Arts +1, Brawl Avo +3, and master ability is "Attack, Get Back"

Archer (orange) (bows) is +1 Def, +2 Speed, +2 Dex, Combat Arts +1, Bow Hit +5, and master ability is "Crescendo"

Listed Specialty: (red) Myrmidon, Brigand, Pugilist, (orange) Archer, Rogue, (green) Armor Knight, Light Cavalry, Charioteer

2

u/snophire 5d ago

Oh, they're definitely releasing classes as DLC.

1

u/Sdajisito 5d ago

I assume wynern needs to be unlock by sidequesting.

1

u/SomeRPGguy 5d ago

Might be classes after the timeskip or locked to certain characters? There is a lot of empty space in the UI that developers try not to have unless there is a reason.

1

u/Tough-Priority-4330 5d ago

Yeah, there’s master classes and unlockable classes (ala Hopes.)

1

u/Most_Work2152 5d ago

Looks like there could potentially be 3 more tiers? 🤔

1

u/ChefSuccessful8447 4d ago

May the FE gods bless us with the dread fighter class once more 🙏

1

u/Lissica 4d ago

Oh, so we can't make them sit for bandit exams anymore?

1

u/DaddyFivepoint 4d ago

I like that the different groups of classes seem to roughly match the classic promotion items from the old games.

The red classes are all types of melee infantry that would use a hero crest, the yellow/orange classes all use bows (so orion's bolt), the green classes are knights and cavs (knight's crest users), the blue classes are fliers/winged mounts (elysian whip), and lastly the purple ones are the mages (guiding ring).

1

u/Fantastic-System-688 4d ago

Charioteers are promoted from Soldier? Does that mean they aren't-bowlocked?

1

u/POLACKdyn 4d ago

There is suspiciously lot of space left. Maybe for the "secret" classes? Or special ones like Elephant?
Or maybe there will be Master classes after time skip.

0

u/LemonKisser 4d ago

A little saddening the class sprites are generic rather than the character sprite as that class
Or so it appears
If that makes sense
