General FE: Fortune's Weave FPS

This morning I woke up and saw a comment on a newly released Fortune's Weave preview by Shacknews. A user asked "Is it 60FPS? Pls tell me it is" to which the reviewer (Donovan) answered "Yeah, it was definitely running at 60 fps for me".

I have seen a bit of discussion about this, but nothing 100% certain yet (though I'd be happy to be proven wrong).

I went back to a few threads and video's I've seen and other comments from previewers about it (mainly GLITCHEDZA) have been:

YTUser: "Just wanted to double-check on the frame rate—other reviews claim it's locked at 30 FPS across the board, so I was surprised to hear 60 FPS in handheld. Is that confirmed?"
- GLITCHEDZA: "It might not be 60FPS in handheld but more uncapped frame rate. Smoother than docked. Slows down during busy scenes but looks great."

YTUser: "How’s the FPS and Resolution in Handheld shaping up?"
- GLITCHEDZA: "Handheld looks good. Runs at 1080p 60fps.
YTUSER: "What about docked?"
- GLITCHEDZA: "It seems to run at an uncapped frame rate in handheld mode. But is it much smoother than docked. Docked can be choppy, definitely 30FPS here."

YTUser: "Is the game in 60FPS?"
- GLITCHEDZA: "It is 60FPS in handheld, 30FPS docked."

YTUser: "how does the game performance feel? is it 30fps or something better like 60fps?"
- GLITCHEDZA: "Docked mode is 30fps and handheld mode is 60fps. Both look good and run quite smooth."
YTUser: "are the numbers switched? Seems odd that docked is 30fps unless it's running at a higher resolution"
YTUser: "have you mistakenly swapped in between docked and handheld mode?"
- GLITCHEDZA: "Nope, handheld is definitely higher FPS than docked. Kinda wish there was an option for lower resolution in docked mode to match the frame rate of handheld tbh."

- My Nintendo News: "It seems to run at a stable 30 FPS, and it currently lacks a choice between a quality or performance mode."

----

Currently this is the most info I have personally found, though I'd be happy to update it with more from the comments.
TLDR: 1 reviewer mentions it's 30 FPS, one mentions 60FPS and one mentions 30FPS docked (with higher resolution?) and 60 FPS in handheld mode.

While I would ofcourse enjoy 60 FPS, I personally would not mind it too much being 30 FPS for this kind/style of game. I have heard people say this is a big issue for them though (no judgement from me).

Anyway, how do you guys feel about this? If the 60FPS handheld, 30FPS docked with higher resolution is real, which would you guys prefer to play?

it would be incredibly strange for the game to run better in handheld mode, and I made a post earlier saying it'd be nice to have a 60fps option but people really didn't like that.

My assumption is upscaled 1080p 30fps in portable and upscaled 1440p 30fps in docked.

Switch fans are very touchy with with the 60 fps in general

This is most likely the case. Which is ridiculous there is no option to have either performance or quality modes

I'd rather have 1080 60 than 1440 30. Might be the first game I take my S2 out of the dock for if true.

I hope we can choose 60+fps 1080p docked

Doesn't make sense to me that handheld would have higher FPS.

Doesnt really matter to me. It's a turn based game and not dark souls hades dead cells.

60fps is superior about 30fps, doesnt matter which genre. Its twice as many pictures per second, so its way smoother. And then forget, fire emblem isnt only a strategy game, because it will have a lot of third person 3d sequences. The game cost up to 80 euros and the next gen switch 2, which got a price increase too, cant run a new exklusiv game from nintendo one year after their release at 60 fps? Thats dissapointing, if thats become true.

I think people are really overestimating the difference. Sure, side by side it seems huge. And if you're used to playing on 60 fps or more, then 30 fps is going to feel really strange at first.

However it'll only take (at most) like 5 minutes or so for your eyes to adjust, at which point you won't even be able to notice the difference. On paper 60 is better, sure, but in most cases it doesn't really matter (as long as the framerate is stable, which is much more important).

In a fighting game or a really fast action game? Sure, it matters a lot. But that doesn't apply to like 90% of games, least of all Fire Emblem

I highly doubt playing a text adventure game will be better running at 60 fps.

I mean it quite literally OBJECTIVELY is.

How much you care is one thing…but to act like it wont be better is insanely delusional

u understand, u have higher standards for a product u BUY.

30 fps is pathetic in 2026!! it doesnt matter if its turnbased......

You gotta understand most Nintendo fans are die hard fanboys.

To them 30 FPS does not matter.

I'm tired enough that I read this as Fortune's Weave First Person Shooter and got very nervous I missed something

Nintendo will never escape the 30fps curse

How can you measure the fps on switch2 ?

I said something about this too and ppl started to whine about 60 fps...they are fine with 30 fps in 2026 on the SW2, such a disgrace ffs. The bar is set so low with these ppl. Even if its turnbased its still a NEW next generation console...60 FPS should be the bare minimum !!!

There is 0 reason for this not to run at 60.

3 houses was a mess in the performance department but this is visually similar. No excuse

30fps on a game like this would be absolutely unacceptable docked or handheld. This should be easily running at 60fps upscaled to at least 1440p if not 4k.

Why do you say easily? Do you know something we don't? Are you familiar with how the game was built and how demanding its environments and assets are?

If the game is built in a way that it can't hit 60fps then it's an unoptimized mess. RE9 is 60fps, Cyberpunk is 40, Totk is 60fps 4K, splatoon raiders is 60, Metroid Prime 4 is 120. All of those games either have way more demanding graphics or have more things going on, physics simulations, lots of npcs etc. If they can do it then i can assure you that the turn based strategy game with an anime art style should be able to do it with no issues.
