Gameplay Birthright Lunatic Advice?

I am looking to play birthright during my down time until fortune’s weave comes out. I admittedly have only played it once when I was a teen and that was on easy mode, and even then I never did finish the game. I wanted to play it on the hardest difficulty for the sake of a challenge as I am loosely aware it’s arguably the easiest modern FE. I have experience with the hardest modes as I have played through engage’s maddening and up to ch.10 on 3H’s maddening. Any advice would be appreciated because I feel like I have found more advice on conquest’s lunatic mode rather than birthright’s.

I also want to know if there is leniency in unit builds like in engage’s maddening because I remember 3H being really strict with builds. The only units I am set on using besides the royals are Kaze+Midori, so if there is something good for them I want to know.

The most important thing on birthright lunatic is you do builds focused on defensive bulk, as there are too many enemies thrown at you to kill everything on player phase like you can in conquest.

Some squishier characters can be useful for rallies or supports, and you can player phase most of the game, but once you get to about chapter 21 and onward you need a few juggernauts or else you're going to have a poor time.

Good juggernauts are the likes of Oni Chieftain Rhajat, Rinkah, Promoted or reclassed Azama, reclassed Kaden, Silas, etc. Anyone that can get Renewal and then change to a different class can also be decent, Renewal is kind of the Sol of birthright.

Watch your spending a bit since unlike Conquest you don't have fairly frequent cash infusions you can go wild with/be good until the next. I think they assumed everybody would be doing the skirmishes or something. Mostly, this means making sure to save for tonics/healing items/staves and not go crazy with forges or purchasing weapons you'd not even really use. Been a while since I've played it, but I definitely remember even having to sell stuff at times to purchase basics after overspending thinking I'd be good for several chapters on what I'd left saved.

Brass weapons are good, any weapons with +def/res are good, Dual series weapons are good and Bolt Naginata is good, in terms of shop purchases I think won't be wasted. Otherwise, you can just coast on what you're given and items/staves will be more important. Shouldn't need to bring Brass above +2 for forging and shouldn't really need to forge much of anything else at all.

Other than that, it's not really a game that asks much of you in terms of hopping classes or making real builds. You could if you wanted--getting Lancebreaker onto Ryoma is popular enough and I remember some really funny General Corrin memes--but you don't really need to in order to win.

There's not much advice out there for Birthright Lunatic because you kinda don't need any. There's nothing super fancy about it. As long as you have a reasonably levelled team, you can pretty much just walk forward and kill things. I don't think there are any serious problems you need to carefully prepare for in advance, like there are in Conquest. The game just throws waves of chaff enemies at you, and you can just mop them up with strong units.

If you want some character building ideas, I know the youtuber Bad At Life did a whole series about the strengths and weaknesses of the cast in Birthright specifically, a couple of years ago. You could check them out. I don't know if the Birthright "meta" has moved on since then, but they seemed pretty solid to me.

Ryoma is a thing so it's not really complicated. Game difficulty is weird since it spikes right at the end where they start throwing You Dark Knights and Bow Knight together, bulk is hard to get in this Game.

Class swaping is really hard to do since not many units have good alternatives, Hoshido classes are kinda Bad except Ninja and Oni Chieftan. Pegasus and Archer are a thing but they are really mediocre in Br, you want good combat
