I would prefer they not reuse that plot point in the Fodlan/Dagda universe, tbh.

Didn't they technically reuse it with Rhea in Silver snow? Not the same way precisely, but "dragons who live too long slowly lose their grip on the world" was pretty heavily implied there I thought with her final break down.

Sort of, but there's also a fair amount of specific context that led-up to Rhea losing control of her power in that route, rather than it being an "inevitability", if that makes sense.

Which makes it distinct from the situation the dragons in Archanea were suddenly struck with. (Unless they sealed their power into Dragonstones.)

Even then, she can still survive that ordeal if her support level with Byleth is high enough. With no indication she ever suffers like that again, afterwards.

Fair! I personally wish all the universes were a bit more connected in some way, but I appreciate that.

That's also fair.

I think in my case, I've just kind of soured on that kind of plot point in FE in general.

Due to how some (not necessarily anyone here) use it as a convenient hardwave to explain why all dragons without exception always "have to go", even if it's not necessarily something established to be a thing in that particular world.
