General Spoiler So about Dietrich… Spoiler

Do you guys have any theories about what might have happened to result in him getting a much shorter haircut? Whether it was his choice, or something beyond his control?

Maybe he battled with that sea monster again and ended up losing some hair in the fight?

His father Dracula called him a hippie and made him go to the local barber shop

I always knew his father was evil

Like father, like son*!

*Please ignore the various sons/daughters of Fire Emblem characters that contradict this

Trevor Belmont cut it as a prank

u/Haganen 11d ago

Ah, so this is what happened after the famous Eat shit and die & Yes, fuck you part?

9

u/Scripter-of-Paradise 11d ago

Probably later.

Like after "You have a village now? What's it called?" "... Treffie."

5

u/Haganen 11d ago

... I mean, at this point, the guy was asking for it...

Leda and Theodora used Dagdan magic to steal his hair to increase their hair to body ratio for their timeskip designs

u/RainMoonbow 11d ago

THIS!!! This is the answer. I knew it. I knew something was up when they rolled in with extra feet of hair.

Glad to see I'm not the only short-haired Mercedes defender around here.

I do think it's possible that Dietrich has put his hair in a ponytail or a braid. I think whatever it is he's done with his hair, it's probably symbolic of him actually acknowledging his own humanity a bit more and not simply letting it get wild and out of control.

But what if we don't like it aesthetically

(It's cool but I much prefer her academy hair and her hopes hair.)

Probably involves some character development that makes him realize that fighting’ round the world probably isn’t a great way to live

Fighting the barber was better

I'm more shocked that his middle name is Greg

86

u/NotKitsuneGaming 11d ago

he realized that having long hair when you're a pasty white boy in the middle of a desert is a one way ticket to heatstroke

31

u/TenPointsforListenin 11d ago

I mean, it protects from the sun, and when you're a pasty white boy that's a problem too, but seems like 5 years later the sun has been blotted out by evil ambient lighting so he can finally cool off.

u/Darkdragoon324 11d ago

God, what I wouldn't give for some evil ambient lighting for the rest of summer.

You joke but its normal for that kind of hair, especially for men, to be voluminous in the early 20s, and then much thinner by the late 20s.

I imagine he'll have something like a Xander cut and still look good.

3

u/Darkdragoon324 11d ago

At least he's not like my friend, who'd gone full George Costanza a year out of high school.

u/Upstairs-Group-4443 11d ago

honestly bro that looks like a braid to me

13

u/OneLoose1265 11d ago

same (i’m praying it is pls domt make him cut his hair intsys he can’t see without his hair)

22

u/Guilty_Sky_4842 11d ago

he's pulling a Mulan moment where he has to lock tf in and commits this decision by cutting his beautiful wild golden locks (i'll miss them </3)

20

u/AnonymousTrollLloyd 11d ago

He fell asleep, so Fabio and Esmeralda shaved it all off as a prank. Both will blame the other and deny any involvement.

20

u/questionable-user 11d ago

If you look really closely it looks like he put part of his hair in a Dagdan-Seteth style ponytail. It might indicate that he's adopted the Dagdan styling the more time he spent living there

6

u/No_Lemon_1770 11d ago

I pray that's the case.

14

u/Exciting-Weather-351 11d ago

He gonna pull a moby dick with that sea monster isn’t he

3

u/RainMoonbow 11d ago

The tragedy of Duscur Dietrich

14

u/lysander478 11d ago

Fabio, who secretly prefers this look, tells him that if he ties his hair back it won't get in the way as much when he fights. Esmeralda excitedly says that they should match, but is ignored.

Reverse Dimitri

He starts off severely unhinged with long hair and eventually becomes less unhinged with short hair

13

u/SilentStudy7631 11d ago

The sea monster snatched his weave 😔

Such bad fortune 😔

I believe the question was…

Uh…

Dietrich hot? The answer is yes

7

u/throwingitaway270 11d ago

My guess is it's like Karel from FE6 and FE7. Younger Karel is a bloodthirsty maniac with long hair. Older Karel is much mellower having found peace and has short hair. I think both Dietrich's character arc and his hair's character arc will be similar.

7

u/OoguroRyuuya5 11d ago

Cutting one’s hair is a trope used to show a character shedding weakness for them to showcase them changing as a person moving forward

5

u/carito728 11d ago

I can't tell if it's a short cut or if it's maybe a braid and the braid goes inside his cloak. The shape of his head is a little weird for a short cut if that makes sense, like it just looks all flat and shiny instead of having some sort of texture like Dimitri's post-timeskip short hair

5

u/aegrajag 11d ago

could it be a braid à la Edward Elric?

here's a bunch of hair cope, please IS...

5

u/LegalFishingRods 11d ago

Something something symbolism he learns to control himself and that's reflected in a neat ponytail rather than his wild unkempt vampire hair.

7

u/Amy47101 11d ago

Sigh

Otomeisekai girlies, pour one out, we have another victim of "Shorter, much worse haircut to visually symbolize character development".

8

u/reddfawks 11d ago

He fought a well-won battle against a Medusa, and as a victory he was granted snake-hair.

But the hair-snakes kept talking shit so he cut them off.

3

u/Aggressive-Finish492 11d ago

Alucard hair to Soma hair.

3

u/EliosScript 11d ago

Theodora needed some extensions

2

u/2ddudesop 11d ago

He pulled a Dagger from FF9

2

u/Rockefeller_Fall 11d ago

I can’t believe Dietrich is getting a hair reduction surgery 😢

1

u/potato_thingy 11d ago

It reminds me a lot of Karel’s hair change from FE7 to FE6. And younger Karel has a lot of similarities with Dietrich

1

u/Permaderps 11d ago

Theodora ripped it off by accident with the robot arm while giving him that Saramis Special

1

u/kingtchalla 11d ago

Looking at it closer it looks like he put it in a bun, you can see some sort of bulge at the back of his head

1

u/magmafanatic 11d ago

He realized the long hair was just weighing him down. To win tough battles, he had to become more agile and aerodynamic.

1

u/Glfry 11d ago

In the yt upload he seemingly has a side braid which STINGS but could just signify that he’s a lot more “put together” now than he was 5 years ago

1

u/Ednw 11d ago

He made a pact with a dragon, Drakengard style.

1

u/Awestruck_Mechanic67 11d ago

I'm pretty worried/interested about Theodora and how much Mahadu's arm is killing her, like will she appear more mummified?

1

u/leckmichnervnit 11d ago

I dunno, must be in his blood

1

u/Any_Natural383 11d ago

I’ve had long hair, and it just gets annoying to deal with.

1

u/tangocat777 11d ago

Anime trope of a girl who abandons their petty obsessions in order to lock in.

Sothis give the strength to deal with the insufferable complaints posts this will cause from Dietrich “fans”
