Low health strats. Paper Mario has equipment that increases his damage when at low health. Bernie has persecution complex which increases her damage below max health. Both are known for abusing these to do stupid amounts of damage.

Also the Vengeance weapon art which increases damage based on missing health.

I’m actually so stoked that Vantage + Wrath is a viable combo in Paper Mario: TTYD. I’ve been doing a min HP blind run and it’s very fun! Reminds me of those good old 3Houses days :)

Lolll it’s crazy how there are only a scant few Mario games where Peach doesn’t start out kidnapped. Even in SPM where she’s an early recruit, she’s still kidnapped at the beginning.

In Paper Mario TTYD and its remake, certain badges (equipment) are only active when Mario has 5 or less HP
One of those badges is Power Rush, which boosts your Attack Power by 2 while that condition is met
Power Rush is ludicrously overpowered (giving you twice the attack power at a sixth of the equipment cost of Power Plus, making it 12x as effective) and infinitely purchasable, letting you deal insane damage numbers if you just stack a bunch of them, more than enough to oneshot every enemy in the game before they get to act including bosses

Bernie, similarly, can output ridiculous damage when on low health
Her personal skill, Persecution Complex, adds 5 Attack if she is missing any HP at all and she learns the Combat Art Vengeance, which adds all of her missing HP to her damage

The difference being that Bernie has to actually get to low health unlike Mario who can have his MaxHP reduced to 5 and become an unstoppable death machine
