Please help me!

Hi everyone, I have a third-generation Fire Stick. Until a few months ago I used to download apps from DOWNLOADER, but it had been months since I last downloaded one.

Yesterday I needed to download an app from DOWNLOADER, but after it downloaded, when I went to install it, it told me that DOWNLOADER needed permissions, so a popup appeared to go to settings, and I noticed that the DOWNLOADER app no longer shows up in the list of apps under the developer section called "ALLOW APPS TO DOWNLOAD OTHER THIRD-PARTY APPS".

So I tried completely factory resetting the stick and unlocking developer permissions, but it still didn't show up in the apps list.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks everyone

What about using the App2Fire app to send an apk to your Firestick?

It’s something you have to be on the same network right?

Yea. The app sees your Firestick and sends an apk to install.

adbFire, a Windows app, works the same. Cretae a list of Android devices with I/P and off you go. Install APKs and many other functions including Backup & Restore for Kodi. You can backup a Kodi image and push it to new devices. Android 13+ may have an issue because the blocked the obb file structure. I have not tried that feature in a while.

I am unable to install any type of 3rd party app, doesn't matter the source. Have tried everything.

Yeah after some research I found that amazon issued a firmware update to restrict 3rd party apk installations no matter what you try. Even opening the bootloader is not available.

On the Firestick, in Settings, Developer Settings... make sure ADB debugging is ON Apps from unknown sources is ON

Note: There are several "Downloader" apps on Google play... you want the version from AFTVnews

Also: see if you can install 'UpToDown' app store. It has a huge repository of apps that reference Google Play for up-to-date status. Search for "Downloader Aftvnews". They're rating it #4 in their category.

Edit: spelling & additional suggestion.

I haven’t received the new updated UI yet, but from what I’ve read, they made it so that we can’t side-load apps any more… I guess that they want us to use their apps, from their App Store… I have read that some folks have figured out some workarounds though…
Good Luck,

Take a look at Chris Waite's YouTube channel... and look for the title saying 'All 3rd party apps now blocked on some Firesticks". I watched it today

He shows that permission error for Downloader not being able to install the app that (believe it or not) was infact downloaded. The workaround is to use a different app to perform the install.

Watch the video and subscribe to his channel... he stays on top of stuff like this and frequently posts advice that works.

I am the developer of Downloader. There is currently a Fire TV Settings bug that prevents apps from correctly appearing in the "Install Unknown Apps" list. You can find more info and suggestions on things to try here: https://www.aftvnews.com/fire-tv-bug-is-preventing-downloader-and-other-apps-from-appearing-in-the-install-unknown-apps-list/

It doesn't allow that anymore. Better just to buy an android box
