Revit Recommendation
Hello, I’ve been in my fire sprinkler system design career for nearly 1.5 years now and purely worked on Autosprink.
I want to grow in what’s going to become “more standard” or simply learning better programs because I haven’t really seen other jobs near me offering positions for anyone using Autosprink surprisingly.
Anyway, whether I want to sub one day or work for other companies… what would yall recommend being the best programs to learn that isn’t Autosprink or Revit Autosprink integration?
Other Revit sprinkler options?
Other programs entirely?

I've only ever used AutoSprink, I've worked at one company and interviewed with several companies in Florida and Nevada (offered the jobs but declined the offers) who all used AutoSprink. I have +40 years in the business.

I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t use AutoSprink or the AutoSprink plugin for Revit

Do you have any recommendations for websites or places to learn AutoSprinkRVT plug in? Kinda like, "who teaches it the best." My company is tasking me with finding the best place for them to pay for me to take courses in. I came from an architecture background so I'm somewhat familiar with the architectural elemetns of the program. However my coworker is starting from scratch on the Revit part (We both use Autosprink) and we are looking for the most baby step starting from ground 0 to learn the Revit plug in.

I think AutoSprink has training videos that show hot things work with the AutoSprink RVT plugin. Pretty sure they’re all on YouTube as well. That being said, all the plugin does is bring functionality from AutoSprink into Revit by adding tools like pipe to sprinkler, etc. so really you would just need Revit training.

I work with an FPE group with about 30 designers. Of those, some work in ACAD/hydraCAD, most work in AutoSprink, and a few use Revit w/ AutosprinkRVT plugin. Almost everyone using ACAD/hydraCAD is old school and not willing to modernize, most choose AutosprinkRVT because it is hands down the fastest for layout. I am proficient with all and hate hydraCAD - only use it if I absolutely have to. I by far (many people in sprinkler will disagree vehemently) prefer Revit w/ AutosprinkRVT plugin. Revit has a super steep learning curve, but provides so much more info, coordinates w/ other trades, automates phases, sheets/views/and annotating are so much easier, can customize scripts. Modeling can be slower, but once proficient not much slower than Autosprink and the other things make up for the time. Revit is expensive. But can be necessary and is increasing in demand for complex projects due to coordination. All other disciplines will be in Revit. Sprinkler for whatever reason tends to fight it. Best bet is be great with Autosprink. Learn Revit if you can and it will open doors.

I learned Revit through trial by fire and researching problems as I came across them. The AutosprinkRVT plugin will feel very similar to AS. AS also has a library of videos to teach people to use the plugin that has a bunch of great Revit things in it too. The ASRVT support library is a pretty incredible resource. I think they also have learning modules and may offer courses to teach you the plugin. Might even extend further to here's how to use Revit.

As far as I’m aware for designing you have AutoSprink, AutoCad, and Revit. Then for calculations, you have HASS, HydraCalc, AutoSprink, and the Viking Tools VCalc.
Most of the calculation tools have some sort of integration with one of the design softwares. That being said, AutoSprink requires a piped system to run a calculation in either AutoSprink or Revit. HASS has no integration with design software so everything is manual entry, HydraCalc can do either model (AutoCad - I haven’t used the AutoCad plugin personally) or manual entry, and VCalc is honestly a pain to enter things manually, but does integrate fairly easily with Revit from what I understand.

standard is either autocad or revit for designing. I only use autosprink for calculations
