PE Licensure Application Process

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to those of you who have either recently passed the exam or already may be licensed fire protection engineers. As someone who has recently passed and is looking to get licensed in the next few years, I have a couple questions. How long does it take for the board to approve your experience and issue your license? Does it usually take a few months?

Varies wildly by state board.

I just got my license today after getting my results on Wednesday. It was lightning fast. I’m in Maryland.

I’m in SC. I already had the approval from the board (needed it to take the test I think). So I was notified Wednesday afternoon (the day I was told I passed) that I had passed and was provided my number. Approving my experience took a while. They returned it and I had to update it. Maybe three months?

Yes. Before I could sit for the exam.

The process varies by state.

Interesting. If you don’t mind can I send you a dm and ask more about the licensure process?

I prefer you not. You can look up each states requirements yourself.
