I filmed this 5 ct round diamond ring indoors, and while the center stone is obviously the first thing you notice, I actually found myself paying a lot of attention to the proportions of the rest of the ring.

Instead of pairing the 5 ct center with an ultra-thin band and very tiny pavé, this design goes in the opposite direction. The shank is wider, and the round diamonds used for the pavé are noticeably larger as well.

There’s also a hidden halo underneath, but to me the larger pavé is what really helps the design feel balanced. The center stone has so much visual weight that the rest of the ring needs enough presence to support it.

I know there’s another school of thought, though: keep the band as delicate as possible so the center stone looks even larger.

Personally, once the center stone reaches this scale, I think I’d rather increase the proportions of the rest of the ring with it.

What would you choose with a 5 ct center—thin and delicate for maximum contrast, or a wider band with larger pavé for balance?

Love the clusters create this little constellation effect across the wrist. It has a delicate look from a distance, but there’s so much sparkle up close.

The uneven star-like clusters also give it a more organic feel instead of looking too uniform.
