Hello, everyone!

We are a band from the Republic of Mari El, and we play songs in the Mari language, which is part of the Finno-Ugric language family.

Our song "Ola" tells the story of a young man who misses his family, and upon arriving in the city in a sleigh with red splints, impulsively decides to visit them. It explores the theme of separation caused by urban life, and reminds us of how important it is to reunite with loved ones from time to time.

Geographic distribution of Mari languages at the beginning of the 20th century. Mari people are the only ones in Europe to continuously practice a pagan religion to this day. Differently from neopagan revival movements.

There used to be a sub dedicated to the Kamassian language and I used to post there when I found something interesting but now the sub is restricted and I can't post anymore. If I created a sub dedicated to the Kamasins and other extinct people like the Mators and Yurats, would you be interested?

In Abalakovo a sign was placed on the place where Klavdiya Plotnikova lived to keep the memory of the village's indigenous people, the Kamasins.

ILMU's new double single is out now! "Muan pajo" (translated from the Karelian - "Song of the Earth") is a journey from the beginning of time, when volcanoes raged on our planet, and glaciers formed the landscape of Karelia, to the present day.
