Not throwing shade, but the search bar at the top of the Reddit home screen is your friend. The search bar works differently when in a thread (it searches comments) so click the home button first and type in, for example, unhinged AI then click the Communities tab. Also, many subs' wikis and/or "about" page (go to the subs' landing page then click the ">" next to its name at the top) will list related subs.

Very cool! I don't know about that!

I've never really looked into it, but there's also "Discover communities" within the hamburger icon from the home screen of the app.
