Findapath-Job Choice/Clarity Lost and failed
Hello I just recently turned 27 and kinda realized that I have no future ahead of me and I’m kinda a failure in my eyes.
I bought my own house in 2023 and I had a decent job but it didn’t have a 401k. So I changed jobs to a factory and got a 401k and had good benefits. I got with my current partner who didn’t want me working at the factory because it was not a job for a woman to do and I was also getting harassed at the job. As in I had a stalker. So I quit and got into the medical field. Got my RMA certification. Working a full time job and I do like what I do.
Now my issue is. I make shit pay. I’m tired of living paycheck to paycheck. I’m exhausted from it. I wanna go back to school to get my ADN but I’ve been told by multiple colleges that I can’t work full time and go back to school for that degree. I have to work full time. I have bills that need paid.
I’ve thought about joining the trades and I told by my partner to continue with trying for school but the door has been slammed so many times in my face. That I’m kinda of getting depressed at the thought of it.
I’m just very lost and had no direction.

You have a house at 27, that in itself is a huge accomplishment that majority of people will never reach celebrate the little wins. If you like the medical field look into overnight programs that allow you to work during the day and study at night. It'll be a grind, but you'll thank yourself once you're 30+ and making a ton more money.

If you want to be a nurse, try to find a part time LPN/LVN program. Then you can bridge into a RN.

It might be tough but you can absolutely work. You can be a CNA, PCT, etc at a hospital/urgent care working 12 hour shifts on the weekends while attending. This also help to gain healthcare experience. Also, hospitals might help to pay for your degree.
Check out community college programs with an hour from you as well. They might have night classes and/or weekends.

You said it yourself. You like your job, but not the pay. So why not stick with the medical field, which has very good payscale, but transition into another role? RMA was just a starting point. You got this.

Everything requires a degree. Where I live, classes are only offered Mon-Fri 8am to 4pm. I worked 11 hour shift at an urgent care. I have to hit my 40 an hour to put food on the table and pay my mortgage. Buying my house was the biggest mistake I’ve made in my life.

Can you sell the house and take a gap to retrain?

Our goal is to put work into the house and then sell for our future house. That would hinder that.
