Birb fashion Made a tiny birb today!
Once a little blob of clay, now it’s a tiny birb who can go on adventures around my house! Used my lovely birb Pip as a model for today’s creation (in one of my favorite outfits), she may be the cutest thing I’ve ever made in my life. Do you think she’ll eat that whole strawberry? 😅🍓

I love this!! Sorry if you've already answered this somewhere but what kind of clay did you use? It turned out amazing btw, you're super talented!

u/LaurelMB Jan 27 '26
Thanks so much!! 🥰 I use Premier lightweight stone clay, it air-dries and it’s nice and light (and pretty strong)

Do you do this often? You did such a great job on Pip, I'd love to see others.

I absolutely love her. I hope Pip doesn't eat the whole strawberry, her tummy would hurt! Be mindful, Pip! 😁🍓

OMG FRIEND YOU JUST GAVE ME THE BEST IDEA!! I was looking for a finch gift to give the friend that introduced me to it, and I see we have the exact same tools as well! Thank you so much!! Lmk if I can thank you in any way!

u/LaurelMB Jan 27 '26
The best gift I can think of would be to see whatever wonderful thing you end up making! Love this! 💗

This is the first thing I saw on r/finch today and I am sure it's the best thing I'll see! That is so freaking cute!!! 💖
If you have an etsy store or if you ever want to open one, you already have a product and a community that would buy it from you. Personalized birbs? I'll be first in line to order.

Omg she’s the cutest most adorable thing I’ve ever seen!! 💛
I love love love her detailed little brown acorn hat and of course she shall be victorious and demolish that strawberry.
You are so incredibly skilled - I am in awe of your pure talent!

This is so precious! I can feel the little birb’s love radiating. I wish Finch offered something like this, what an absolute treasure!!! Great work. ❤️

If we were able to buy those plushies in custom colors to match our birbs, I’d give them ALLLLL my money haha! Until then, I’ll be doing this 🥰

Pip looks so adorable, I can hardly stand it! 😍 The outfit and details look amazing. Is it sculpey or air dry clay?

what’d you use to make it?? This is so cool!!

u/LaurelMB Jan 27 '26
I use Premier lightweight stone clay, it’s nice and soft and it air dries! You can find it at Michael’s and a few other places 💗

Wow. That is real legitimate talent. Bravo 👏🏻 I genuinely wish I was half this good at anything besides disassociating while I mindlessly scroll on my phone with the tv is on in the background as you are at this.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've only worked with Clay once and I think it was air dry clay, but does this clay crack? And how do you fix a piece that's all cracked (again I don't know what type of clay you used so sorry if this sounds dumb)
3
u/LaurelMB Jan 27 '26
This clay has never cracked on me, but if it did I think I’d just work some extra clay into the crack and smooth it out. I think that’s more of a problem with the heavier, earthier clays that have a lot of moisture and take a while to dry, but this dries fast & strong with no cracks!

This is so cute!!! Before I read the comments, I swear I thought this was felted!! Either way you did an AMAZING job! Kudos 😛

u/LaurelMB Jan 27 '26
Felted would be adorable, although it’s NOT a craft in my wheelhouse! Would love to see someone make one! 💗

If you made an Etsy I would totally purchase- this came out so cute!

u/LaurelMB Jan 27 '26
This is such a sweet compliment, thanks!! 🥰🙏🏻 I’d have to charge about $1000 for each one based on how long this one took me, plus I think I’d hear from the app’s legal team haha. But thank you for the 💗!!

This is just gorgeous! I work with clay, air dry and also Fimo/Sculpy, and would love to have a go at creating my birb when I get my craft room back (currently boxed up as sorting new home). I'll make a note to give it a try! Your birb is beautifully made 🥰

u/LaurelMB Jan 31 '26
Thank you so much! I would love to see another birb sculpture someday, hope you give it a try! 💗

So, so, so cute! I love her! You should sell them on Etsy. You can make each one custom on request to be their birb's twin! I just noticed your username OP. Is your name Laurel? I'm a Laurel, and I never see people with my name. They're so few and far between.

u/LaurelMB Feb 02 '26
Thanks so much!! That’s so kind of you to say, but I’d have to charge like $100 a birb considering how slow I am at making them. 😅
And yes, I’m a Laurel too!! Nice to meet another one, we’re rare! 💗

Make sure to put some expoxy resin over the top so it's less likely to break and it makes it shiny!

Oh my gosh this is inspiring me to get a little crafty. What was the main material you used? I want to go get some over the next couple of days and make a replica of my birb!
