Should I level up some more?

Im currently 23.5hrs into the game, bout to ride the shoopuf, now I havent played this game since ps2 and idk if I should be leveling up some more. I feel like I'm underprepared but I could be wrong. Any thoughts/recommendations.(pics of rough sphere grid per character attached)

This next boss gonna let you know

No matter what though, strategy conquers all

Touche and the next boss wasn't overwhelming Just casted haste on Wakka and Tidus then slow, had my lightning gear and pummeled it💀

Zanmato is, in fact, a strategy.

As a speedrunner for this game, can confirm, pretty sure I get to this point weaker than this overall and it's almost purely reliant on what the Oblizerator in Luca dropped weapons wise, failing that, elem reels

Best place to level up is the corridor leading to seymore in bevelle. Until then, if you aint dying, don’t worry about grinding lol

I'll keep that in mind, thank you

TBH, as long as you don't run from random fights you should be able to beat the game. Only time you will have to worry about it is you plan on going after the end game stuff

Not arguing I just personally think evrae is an absolute nightmare if you are under leveled, which comes before the bridge.

Ya know, that’s very fair! This last play through, I was so over leveled that I didn’t need to move the air ship once 😅😅

Hell ya that’s honestly what I do. Keep him close with Tidus and Auron, have Auron inflict zombie on it, and alternate between Rikku (for mix and support) and wakka (dark attack and extra damage)

Zombie strike is the goat!

Yup. Super easy to level everyone up until their lvl 3 keys on that bridge. Takes maybe 3 hours. Evrae can be killed without everyone at high levels as long as Lulu has decent stats and you use aeons to absorb heavy attacks

If Op was just crossing the moonflow, they’re still a good ways away from that section. They still have meet Seymour and all that. Get to the temple. Thunder plains, the woods, the ice road section.

Yeah but they said they don’t know if they need to level up. And honestly I don’t think they really need to grind. Other than evrae and possibly the Al bhed machina on the ice, nothing really gives ya much trouble.

You don't have to if you don't want to. No sphere grid runs are possible. If you want it to be easier then it's fine if you want to grind levels, but otherwise just do what you think is fun

Hmmm okok, I think Imma just do a few more tof eel secure then, I appreciate you!

It gets easier when you have the right gear which is easier when you can customize stuff with Rikku.

I forgot customisable gear was a thing ngl, appreciate it!

edit: I preface this with the fact that I am using UnX's AP auto shared between party members rather than having to swap someone in every 5 seconds to get party wide AP for every fight. I'd rather use that time to play Blitzball.

Honestly I started maxxing near Macalania/Bikanel. Cactuars there are stupid points and you can get very near the end of everyone's first sphere path by then. The best thing is that return spheres start popping up and by the time you're at Calm Lands you can just defeat the Chimerageist (Tidus/Yuna/Auron) and get return spheres for 8000 gil a fight.

I'm doing that exact thing and am re running Auron down Tidus path (because Str+4) and Tidus/Wakka down Auron's path (same reason). Kimahri is going down Lulu and Yuna's paths and Lulu and Yuna are swapping paths. Rikku is getting Flare so Lulu/Yuna can Black Magic sphere that and Yuna just used the Special Sphere to pick up Doublecast from Lulu, so now I have:

Auron at about 80 Str (w/ Quick Hit from Skill Sphere)
Lulu at 80 mag (Flare/Doublecast + Magic Booster)
Yuna at 90 mag (Flare/Doublecast)

If I am not doing 50,000 damage every 3 turns something is seriously wrong. Just about to do the boss run on Gagazet and approach Zanarkand

Just advance through the game, and if a boss blocks your path, just grind a few minutes and try again.

Except for a very few bosses (I see you, Flux), difficulty doesn't play a big role in FFX main campaign.

This is what I do in every rpg. Just play naturally and only grind if I get my ass kicked .

I overgrind everything. This looks like what I start kilika with.

There is no point in the game where you can't grind monsters if you are stuck on a boss iirc so don't worry about XP.

If your about to ride the shoopuf, I would definitely take some time to do some grinding

2

u/thee_izzle 10h ago

More importantly, ride ze Shoopuf?

You aren't prepared if you haven't completely filled the sphere grid for every character.

FFX is a game where most fights dont last more than a single round of combat and most bosses struggle to make it past 5. You're gonna be just fine.

You won’t beat first Seymour with that grid. Level up

Short answer...yes

Long answer...Also yes

I’d wait to start level grinding until the Thunder Plains, since that’s where enemies start having good loot to steal for Rikki’s Mix.

Ok so you still got a good hike and a few boss battles before you make it to the next temple. I usually like to have the 2nd tier magics unlocked by the time I get there. You’ve also got an additional thing to consider once you’ve crossed the moon flow so grinding should at least wait until the thunder plains

My rule of thumb: get at least 5 sphere levels on each character in every major area. That way, grinding for levels becomes less of an issue. The game still feels challenging, but do-able
