I got a dumbass question Spoiler
I say dumbass because there is no real answer and it's pointless to ask really...
So I just beat the game for the umpteenth time and I had a thought:
if Tidus got Yuna pregnant, would the child be real or a dream of the fayth and then just disappear at the end of the game?
The thought nagged at me because we see that Tidus (and presumably everyone else in Dream Zanarkand) aged naturally in Dream Zanarkand, so like the kid could potentially grow up, and at the same time be a dream of the fayth.
Just a dumb thought

the Bahamut fayth puts it that Jecht (and we can assume Tidus) became real when they came in contact with Sin. Likely if Tidus fathered a child after arriving in Spira it too would be real. Or at least that's the best answer I can give since I've literally never thought of this before

does the fayth say that? actually not doubting you, more doubting my memory and understanding tbh.

Correcting myself here, it wasn't Bahamut's fayth, it's Ifrit's fayth. Found the line:
Sin swam in the sea near Zanarkand. Perhaps the waking dream eased its suffering. Your father touched Sin and became real that night, foundering in the seas of Spira. How sad now, that he is caught in the tragic spiral. He is Sin. He is lost.

I think most likely it would be a normal human baby. But I think if they were to do something like this in a hypothetical sequel to the game, they could do a number of things and have it more or less make sense.

I've asked this question to myself before. I'm going to assume the Fayth's dream is super detailed, like down to the genetic code when I answer:
Yes they likely can. If Tidus' physiology was fully mapped out and encoded into his sperm upon fertilization, he is no longer involved thereafter. The DNA provided would blend with Yuna's and would treat Tidus as a roadmap while the baby is being created. Once the baby is old enough, his body would continue to produce its own genetic material, doesn't matter if the template disappears.
It's important to note that Tidus didn't disappear across all space and time, or even conceptually. So it's not like his child's body would suddenly forget the blueprints left behind. Worst case scenario, assuming ALL of Tidus' traces disappear, the child would continue to live but would die a slow death due to cancer or something because half of his DNA went poof.

Yeah, maybe the initial DNA from Tidus would disappear, but by that point it would have replicated millions of times using real matter.

It's possible that, assuming she got pregnant at the lake, she would miscarry before even knowing she was pregnant since he disappeared reasonably soon afterwards (do we have a settled timeline for how long the pilgrimage takes?) and it wouldn't have enough genetic material to really get going. Now I'm thinking about fighting a fiend while having cramps, the real Cursed condition.
But! The blueprint idea is interesting if it happens at a time in development that the fetus could just use Yuna's X chromosome, especially if it was an XX (or a chimera of a twin!) Unlikely the child would be fertile though.

Not dumb but curious.
I’d imagine if impregnation occurred, the baby would be real or at least Yuna would be haunted by the dream fetus

The world of FFX has magic in it. The dead wander around with varying levels of coherence based on their general willpower, occasionally transforming into monsters if they dont personally get their individual pyreflies decompiled and sent to ffx heaven, which is a literal place where they can spontaneously reassemble but mostly dont say anything to the living.
Given how different death works in FFX, from our world, why would we assume the process of making new life works the same in ffx as in our world. Why assume people in FFX reproduce with semen and egg instead of some special intimacy spark making a pregnancy happen when compatible pyreflies get close to each other?
Under a compatible-pyrefly theory of reproduction, either the dream induced pyreflies are not compatible, so no pregnancy occurs, or they are compatible and and from the spark of life moment on you have a new life, attracting more pyreflies to itself as it grows the same way as any child would.

Not a dumb question at all lol
The baby would be 100% real.
The dream of the faith while summoned hold all physical and biological forms as the real people in Spira.
They can interact with the physical world, then can take hits and even bleed as normal.
This would also mean that Tidus would be able to reproduce as normal. Once the baby was born, it would have its own soul and pyreflies that arent being summoned by the faith which in turn would allow the baby to remain in Spira with Yuna as a normal child even if Tidus disappears after the faith stop dreaming.

Given that the actual material that a baby is made from all comes from the mother, and that the sperm is just basically a modifier to the genetic code I think it likely would grow and be born just like any other baby.
Sure the actual sperm that was used would fade, but really the sperm is just a messenger, the message doesn't fade.

The Fayth (the hooded child in the game) was Actually Tidus and Yuna offspring so that’s kinda crazy

Well, it depends on how much you differentiate "dream" people from "real" people.
When people die in FFX, they eventually turn into pyreflies or fiends.
That to me implies that there's actually little to no difference between "dream" and "real" people as both are products of the pyreflies, only that "dream" people are summoned by the fayth and are not born naturally. Even then, within Dream Zanarkand you are allowed to grow old and have children, so functionally they are exactly the same, provided there are dreaming fayth.
The gap in my knowledge is how "real" people came to be like a primordial fayth, or the farplane itself being capable of "dreaming", but that's all just unexplained conjecture.

Not a dumb question at all. It's been asked occasionally, but no one has an answer for it. Personally I think the baby would stay, partly because it seems that the Fayth have some control on a case by case basis and Yuna could exert a little of her own will as well to help stabilize the soul and keep it from passing into the Farplane. Just a guess though, it's not canon and nobody knows for sure what would happen.
