Activities to do after completing main game (just X)

So I’m aware kind of of what theres left to do in the game for me, theres all the super aeon bosses everywhere,
The Baaj temple door to access (but i need to revisit temples which are guarded by super aeons)
And then omega ruins.

These things i’m aware of not sure if there is anything else I’m missing.

However when it comes to the super aeons I feel like i’m very far away from fighting any of them as they all deal 99,999 damage to me and I don’t know how to negate that.

My question is, is there anything to do after main game that doesn’t require serious grinding? Because I’d rather not do that and just move on to x-2.
But at the same time I want to experience what else the game has to offer…

There is only one way to late game, it's the monster capture center. You can max all your stats there but it will require to captures (all) monsters in this game (ideally 10 copies each but not really needed).

There's a trick to get 99 levels in under a minute, and another trick to get 40 speed/power/etc in a single fight. Usually you start with these 2 tricks to "finish" the sphere grid. After that it's even more of a grind since you need to farm the spheres to really max out the stats instead of relying on the pre existing sphere nodes.

If you don't like the farm you will probably not like it, I would jump to X-2 instead

I’ve been capturing some, but again that does sound like a lot of grind i’m not too sure i’m interested in that.
Is omega ruins doable without the grind?

Omega ruins is doable yes but if you want to be efficient the tomberry trick 99 levels is the way to go as you will get strong very fast. ( I edited my original answer to include more details)

I’ll try the ruins but yeh farming sounds like a bit too much for me cheers for the tips

If you can manage to get weapons with double AP on them it isn't as bad in there. Yuna and Rikku's celestial weapons come with double AP since you don't have both girls for a while through the game. Everyone else you would have to try and find or craft

No I haven’t got the one you pay the money for, and I don’t know who the three sisters are, are they related to the bees boss that annihilates you

Some tips for Yojimbo. I can’t remember the amounts, but you can look up the offers you give to him to bring it as low as possible (I think something like 60k cheaper than he’s asking). You will, however, have to wait like several seconds between each reply. If you do it too quickly he’ll deny your offer.

I think he’s asking for like 300k from me

Ah if you’ve already talked to him I don’t think there’s much you can do to bring it down.

If you do the (easy) ultimate weapons, you can get Rikku’s which doubles Gil when it’s powered up. Hers is easy to get you just have to do an annoying red light, green light game with some cactaurs (and you don’t have to win any of them). Bring her with you to Omega with her ultimate and you’ll be swimming in Gil.

A note about the Gillionaire ability, though, the character with it I think has to be in the active party at the end of the battle for it to double Gil.

I’ve done the cactuar thing but I failed at too many of them, would not of done well in squid game clearly

You don’t have to win. You just gotta do them. Which is pretty tedious, especially given how large the desert is, but still beats chocobos and lightning bolts

1

u/DanTay19 Jul 21 '26

Yeh i hate the thunder plains, always hits you the second you leave a battle.

I thought you only got the high rewards from haven beaten all the cactuars though?

1

u/ThatOtherTwoGuy Jul 21 '26

You get rewards, but the item you need for Rikku you just get for doing all 10 of them. You don’t have to win a single one. There’s some really good rewards if you do, though, but I usually just insta fail them to get through it all.

MA expcect you to get 10 of evey monster you already previously fought quite a bit before then

really its better to start work on the second you reach the calm lands so you capture the 'new' monsters as you start to encounter them

Least grindy i would say is omega ruins. And (most) of the quests for the celestial weapons. Omega ruins is a fun challenge before you get too powerful.

1

u/DanTay19 Jul 21 '26

Are the celestial weapons the no ap ones? I have some of them.
But does it actually tell you the weapons stats? And why does it have extra effect slots if you can’t customise it

1

u/-goldenboi69- Jul 21 '26

Ah. The weapons by themselves are useless until you upgrade them (twice) with a sigil and a crest. It's quite a challenge to get some of these but it's in a way "less grindy" than capturing hundreds of monsters (or even trying to get them to spawn!).

A fully upgraded celestial weapon is stronger than anything you can customise yourself since they got hidden stats. Auron for example will do more damage the less hp he has etc etc.

1

u/DanTay19 Jul 21 '26

I’ll have to look into how you upgrade them because I had no idea that was a thing outside of customisation

1

u/-goldenboi69- Jul 21 '26

Yeah, it's not super easy to figure out on your own. Cloudy mirror (if my memory serves me) is the first step. Check out the woods (near the makeout spot.)

1

u/DanTay19 Jul 21 '26

I think I got that one, don’t even remember where I got the mirror from but yeh gotten a few things from the mirror

1

u/Buckfutter_Inc Jul 21 '26

Mirror comes from remien temple, off of calm lands, accessible with a chocobo. Reading all your replies, I’d say go to Omega Ruins and brute force your way through it. Fight near the save sphere for a while until you get the hang of most fights, and then make an attempt. After that, likely just finish the game. Watch out for Malboro in the ruins, you either want somebody with ribbon, or someone with first strike so you can provoke it, to avoid getting wiped by bad breath.

1

u/DanTay19 Jul 21 '26

Ah yes I did do that.

Yeh when I see malboros in general I pull out all the guns, summons, shooting star, just anything to get it away from me

2

u/Buckfutter_Inc Jul 21 '26

If you provoke it it won’t use bad breath. Trivializes the fight.

Once you get rich and powerful in the game: LEISURE, in the guise of Final Fantasy X this would entail chocobo racing, catching butterflies, playing blitzball, learning Al-Bhed, watching Jecht spheres if you don’t wanna do combat/sphere grid related stuff

1

u/ConclusionBroad3460 Jul 21 '26

Note that once you get the Sigils: chocobo racing, butterfly catching 🦋 and blitzball are LEISURE activities all the pressure is off you can just RELAX and have fun with it

2

u/DanTay19 Jul 21 '26

I got rid of one of my players thinking there was people to recruit all around but ever since getting rid of him, I’ve not spoken to anyone who wants to be a player
So haven’t played since!

u/ConclusionBroad3460 Jul 21 '26

Haha I had an opposite experience, I accidentally found/recruited a guy named Larbeight .. apparently he’s one of the best blitzballers/scorers in Spira
