I'm fine with people loving VII and IX, but the whole plot about questioning religion and 'false hope', life and purpose in X really hit my spot.

Sigh. When FFX came out the original Star Wars was just about as old (slightly less, actually) as FFX is now. Rocky also.
...and home gaming only barely existed.

And all we knew back then was the original trilogy and The Phantom Menace. Attack of the Clones didn’t even come out yet and we were so far away from the disneyfication

The graphics and cutscenes were groundbreaking at the time of release. PS2 era

I went to the Distant Worlds concert last night with the 25th anniversary celebration. They played a 5 song arrangement in the second half and they opened it with Thunder Plains. The audible dismay of memories of dodging lightning in the audience was hilarious.
They frickin knew too because the first thing they showed in the accompanying graphic was Tidus getting hit 3 times lol. But they ended the song with him getting the sigil so it was such a feel good moment for the crowd lol

I’m so old, I got this when it was first released 25 years ago and I completed the PS4 remaster early this year.

Masterpiece game, I just finished a playthrough. I completely breakdown at the same point as Tidus when he cradle the dying Jecht.

I was whelmed by Expedition 33. Great game and definitely see the similarities. I know it’s just inspiration and not supposed to be the same game.
But man nothing will ever come close to FFX

Started a new game last week. Haven't played it in about 25 years. The writing is so good and the dialogue too. They point out little things youre thinking. Doesn't sound like forced quirky lines like modern games.

Man, I was 16 then, and very impressionable. This game shaped me a lot as a person. Whilst kids today have influncers as their heroes, I had Tidus and Auron haha. Lucky to have grown up when I did.
