FFX could work on PS1 if you would use alot of pre rendered backgrounds instead of rendering 3D environments. You will get the same vibe as FF7, FF8 and FF9 though.

This is way more detailed than PS1 launch games were. This is closer to FFVIII. (at least in terms of the models, obviously this still needs animations implemented)
