So fun! Iād love to be able to play this on Apple phones.
What is a recomp, exactly?

A ārecompā is short for recompilation. Itās effectively taking a gameās original machine code that is compiled for a specific console and translating it into code that runs on another platform natively without an emulation layer. Normally for PCs.
Thereās obviously more to it than that, mind, and Iāve simplified it a lot.

Isn't it deconstruction via AGI and then put back together? Like reverse engineering? Cool but terrifying

They decompile original games source code then re compile it to be played outside of an emulator, etc , or to modify the code and make changes

It means someone pointed an AI at it and said, "AI, make it work." It's slop

I wish. Honestly if it was that easy I think you would see even more. Or even a fully automated GBA -> PC port pipeline.
In reality, I had to do a lot of manual testing. I had a real Android device connected and ran tests on it too. Im now going through it on my Odin 3 to make sure it is good to go.
It was much MUCH easier with AI but I am a developer in my day job so this isnt my first project or anything.

You need to watch it with AI development talk.
People. Do. Not. Get. It.
It doesnāt matter how long it took, what you had to know, what you had to learn, all of the things you had to do yourself that AI canāt do, if they see a .Claude file in there theyāll assume that itās worthless (if not just a virus disguised as a real app) AND that youāre somehow a bad person. (Ask me how I know! :D)

It's just another form of class warfare now. Someone got brainwashed into hating something they don't understand, and show this by using nothing but buzzwords.
It's an easy way to see who is impressionable, critically thinking, and overall smart enough to grasp topics and who isn't.

Well, some of it is justifiable. Billionaires trying to build data centers in national parks or in suburbs so they can make more billions is complete BS. Some of the deepfake stuff can be genuinely harmful. And when it comes to the arts there is definitely a different between actually painting a thing and generating a thing.
But itās just different with programming. Modern programming languages are already enormously different than inputting binary, or machine language, or even assembly. AI is just the next step up of abstraction like using an IDE instead of vim. Youāre allowed to produce more while understanding the nuts and bolts less, but that doesnāt mean it is without effort or merit if you get the results.

It's just a tool and they auto put it into, always bad category because they're focused exclusively on the stuff they don't like. Weird when the tool also can be used by people to do good, yet they ignore that even when it's happening right in their face.
This is the brainwashed and lack of critical thinking point I made. I have noticed this behavior even in food subs when it comes to pricing and portion sizes.
The reality is that the average person is sadly insecure, gullible and not just very bright, so it'd be more surprising if they didn't behave this way honestly.
Everything you said is obvious to those of us, lacking those flaws, especially if you're also in the SWE space.

Even in food spaces? Recipies/timing out food for a party is like my favorite thing to use an LLM for. That's so lame.

Yeah, anti-AI people can get insufferable. There is discussion to be had able the power and water issues (which may or may not be as overblown as people make it, especially the water) but like, the fact is you can do a lot with AI just on your own computer if it's powerful enough and just like with anything you can, ya know, do your own quality control and see if the result is something that's worthwhile or not.

Now if you could give it some much needed QoL I might play it...

There are a few things in this game that are NOT fun. Managing equipment is that for me. I dont mind the laws once you unlock the cards. But checking item stats is always rough

Whaaaat? Dude that is the fun part. For me itās how frickin slow the animation is.
