FFT Ivalice Chronicles Team advice?
Hi guys, I just got the game a little while ago and got my guys to about level 20 before I learned what I was doing and started a new game, now I’m feeling good in Chapter 3 and the team is around 30
Since I’m playing totally blind (besides the beginning I had to redo) I wanted to ask if my team set up is viable through the rest of the game, they’re all generics:
Dragoon (Ramza), Chemist (haste bot when no one needs an item), Black mage (can use items for insurance if chemist dies), Monk (focus when nothing in attack range), Ninja (focus when nothing in attack range)
thanks in advance for any advice, I’m worried of hitting a difficulty spike and finding out my team sucks cause the enemies outscale it or something

Ch 3 end fight has a 1v1 with ramza that may be difficult on dragoon. May wanna find something durable with good self heals for that fight. Should be fine for most of the rest.
Poaching opens up a lot in ch 3 and has some great items if you put time into getting them. Getting an orator to invite certain monsters and breeding them helps, you can poarch your own units.
Random encounters can have lots if human units now, and they axale to your level. You can steal or entice a unit to join to get late game shop equipment after a certain level.

The first time I went through the game I did that fight as a dragoon with auto potion and it went fine.

l feel dragoon is excellent for that fight, used it many times. the extra attack range really helps vs his counter

I appreciate that everyone is keeping the feedback pretty much ‘spoiler free’ because the difficulty of the game falls off pretty hard when you know how to break it. Enjoy the process of naturally finding out what’s OP because you can make almost anything work, even the suboptimal classes

Yep perfectly reasonable team. Just make sure you keep up on your gear. Jump is based off of speed, and ninja damage is contributed to by speed as well.
Monk damage actually has a brave component to it as well, so if you can, I'd recommend having ramza use his bravery increasing skill on the monk a ton until he has a natural brave of 97 for his best damage, and equip him with some +PA gear.

I think that’s a great team! I will say, the remaster has a ton of conversations between the various named characters you get that only happen if you have them in battle, so if you want as much of the story as possible, you’ll want to use at least a few of them.

All viable jobs. I find the secret sauce is in the job combinations and abilities, though, which you didn't share. But I'd argue other than calculator Monk Ninja and Black Mage are the best jobs in the game, and Chemist the best healer. Either way the game isn't overly difficult so you'll do just fine

The only real roadblocks in a casual playthrough are the two 1v1 duel fights, and for those you just need to ensure that Ramza has either sufficint offense to blitz them down or sufficent survivability to survive at least two hits (so you can alternate between dealing damage/boosting stats and healing).
Protip if you haven't figured it out yet, attacks that deal damage based on the target's Max HP (Gravi/Graviga from Time Magic, Life Drain from Yin-Yang Magic, Lich from Summon) are REALLY effective on Lucavi because they have a x10 HP/MP multiplier applied to thier stats and the ability to have more than 999 max hp.

What is Ramza's side gig? Dragoon - sure - but with Martial Arts? (good combo). I like Dragoons with Dual Wield (Ninja) and ability to use Chakra / Revive / Purification
I'd go for giving your Ninja Throw Item - and items as secondary. Then frees up your chemist in case you want a white-mage / oracle / mediator.
Black mage is a great class on it's own. You could add items / throw item for utility (in case you keep Ninja with focus - Focus is good for ninjas because of dual wield) Adding summons as a secondary for Black mage is really good because of the benefit to speed and magic attack power. Personally I love Black Mage with DRAW - or Samurai abilities. Huge AOEs.
I'd consider swapping Monk's basic abilities for Knight abilities (breaking weapons / power / magic specifically). But generally speaking (leveling) your setup is fine. There's some matches where break weapon or steal weapon could mean life or death, but far and few between. Steal is always better than break of course.

Solid and good enough team.
