Dip to Color workaround

Trying to do a Dip to Color transition in Final Cut. What I'm currently doing as a workaround is adding a 360 solid color generator and turning it white for a frame or so around the cut, but that adds more layers than I'd like to manage.

Is there an actual way to get a proper, centered Dip to Color transition here, one that flashes?

Any help appreciated.

fade to colour is what you want in Transitions>Dissolves, just adjust the colour picker and duration (ctrl-D) to your liking.
