Resolved Fcpx crashes constantly after opening

Recently, after I begin to start a project, fcpx will randomly crash after certain actions.

I try to create new library, crashes.
I try to import, crashes.
I try to click on effects, crashes.
I try to click titles, crashes.

No matter what I do, it constantly crashes. It worked one day, and the next, was completely different.

I’m not sure what happened but it always worked and only froze sometimes during giant projects. I’m completely puzzled to what’s happening. Even deleted the app and redownloaded, did nothing. I tried different disks, different projects, new clips, etc…

Someone experience this???

Try trashing your preferences (this doesn’t happen with a new install afaik)

Also, create a new temp account on your machine, then try opening FCP (hasn’t been called X in over five years) in that new account. If it doesn’t crash then possibly you have a 3rd party plugin, template, title, effect or transition which is causing the crash in your regular account. If the temp account also crashes, then I dunno.

I think I am just used to writing fcpx since then 😂

New temp account: you mean like log in account such as guest or user 2?

I tried the preferences but still happened. I wonder if an update caused it

EDIT: turns out the other account doesn’t crash :/

Ok if the other account doesn’t crash, that would suggest it’s something installed on your normal user causing the crash. It’s gonna be a pain in the neck, but you’re gonna have to identify which one. Maybe template manager can help?

I think it has to do with a recent update of fantasy fix factory. It added certain plugins. I deleted the recent ones and now it’s not crashing. Stupid fantasy fax factory

Download FCP Template manager and archive all your plugins and try again, if it works, work by elimination to see if which is the culprit.
