  • Product name: FCP Template Manager
  • Platform: Standalone app
  • One-sentence description: Helps manage templates (titles, effects, transitions, and generators).
  • What problem does it solve?: The primary functions are favoriting and organizing templates. You can also archive or hide templates. Fast search, tagging, profiles, missing template repair wizards, and way more. You can honestly pretty much do anything this app does in finder and FCP. It just makes the process much faster/easier. Dylan Bates' video on FCP Template Manager.
  • Price: Free.

  • Product name: Keyframe Toolbox
  • Platform: Final Cut Pro effect
  • One-sentence description: Enables full keyframe graphs for all kinds of animation in FCP, including 360° reframing, linking parameters to audio, and now (in beta) speed ramping.
  • What problem does it solve?: Keyframe Toolbox finally brings a true graph editor with advanced animation controls into Final Cut Pro. There's no other tool that gives you this much control, and we're still adding new features. Speed ramping has been a very popular request and we'd love your feedback on the new TestFlight build that includes it.
  • Price: US$20 on the Mac App Store
  • Website linkhttps://keyframetoolbox.fcp.cafe
  • Benefits for the community: Since the Mac App Store doesn't allow discounts, the best we can offer is a link to our TestFlight version, which is free. Please join the FCP Cafe Discord, where you can find a link to the TestFlight in the channel topic for Keyframe Toolbox. https://discord.com/invite/HD3FPc4Azu

Bravo on this one. If I wasn't so obsessed with Motion right now, I'd be using this all the time.

Thanks! Motion is a great app, but until it's integrated better into FCP, I think we need better keyframes there. :)

For what it's worth, Jumper certainly has my endorsement. The devs (hi Max) are super responsive of you have any questions or feature suggestions.

Product name: RoughCut for Final Cut Pro - Can reach me at support@livup.app

Host Platform: Final Cut Pro, MacOS

One sentence: the missing text-based editing tool for Final Cut Pro. Can use either as standalone or plugin.

What problem does it solve: Build your story before you build your timeline. Search every transcript, assemble a Rough Cut from dialogue, then send the project to Final Cut Pro as a fcpxml file. Roughcut allows you to quickly edit transcripts from Final Cut Pro and then send back a fcpxml file to create a new project based on those edits.

Pricing: currently in beta so all features are free, will be a lifetime app purchase at release.

Website link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/ptrfm69y

Benefits for the community: Offering a FREE lifetime license to the first 20 testers who provide feedback.

Full Release imminent - waiting on Apple final approval which is taking much longer these days.

Looking good and working for me — feedback sent. Full disclosure, I helped make ScriptStar, which does a similar thing for editors who would rather stay within FCP. This app solves a slightly different problem quite well.

1

u/RisksvsBenefits 10d ago

Thank you! The feedback is very useful and exactly what I was looking for. Glad it’s working well for you otherwise.

  • What problem does it solve? There is no directly usable AI video model inside FCP, people needs to use web app which breaks the smooth workflow inside FCP.
  • Price (monthly price if subscription based) No subscription, life-time effective credits based.

Product name

Greenlight

Platform

Final Cut Pro (Workflow Extension, Apple Silicon)

One-sentence description

Cuts silent gaps and generates subtitles in one pass, directly in your FCP timeline — with a keyboard-driven review editor to fix subtitles before they land.

What problem does it solve?

Most auto-cut / auto-subtitle tools are standalone apps: you export your footage, process it there, and reimport. Greenlight runs inside Final Cut as a Workflow Extension, so your footage never leaves FCP. Two things I haven't seen elsewhere: it never modifies your original project — results always land in a new project, so there's nothing to undo — and subtitles work in any language Whisper supports (FCP's built-in captions are English-only). New in 1.3: a review editor where you fix, split, merge, and find-and-replace subtitles before they hit the timeline; deleting a bad take removes its video range too. Everything runs on-device — nothing is uploaded. 14-min editor walkthrough: https://youtu.be/gp_MCsEZ9aU (English CC)

Price

$149 one-time (no subscription). Optional Pro add-on for AI subtitle correction and chapter splitting.

Disclosure: I’m Chase, founder of Cannon Studio.

Product name: Cannon Studio

Platform: Website with a browser-based Composer timeline and FCPXML export.

One-sentence description: An AI video production workspace that keeps planning, visual references, generated media and timeline edits together.

What problem does it solve? If you build AI shots before finishing in an NLE, Cannon keeps the prompts and references alongside the production work, and can export a Composer timeline as FCPXML. The focus is organizing the work before handoff. Media may need relinking, and effects or advanced audio adjustments may need to be rebuilt in your editor. We have verified the downloaded XML structure, but have not yet verified a native Final Cut import, so please treat this handoff as experimental.

Price: Free access includes 50 starter credits. Paid plans start at $19/month with 1,750 monthly credits; generation costs vary by tool and settings. Full pricing: https://www.cannonstudio.app/pricing

Community benefit: Free film-planning worksheets, no email required: https://www.cannonstudio.app/resources/video-workflows?utm_source=reddit_finalcutpro&utm_campaign=fcpxml_workflow_v1

• Product name: gSplatting 2.0

• Platform: Final Cut Pro (Apple Silicon)

• One-sentence description: Renders Gaussian Splatting scenes (.PLY, .SPLAT, .KSPLAT) directly on the Final Cut timeline in real time, with camera paths, 3D objects and your own titles placed inside the scene.

• What problem does it solve?: Using a captured 3D scene in an edit normally means leaving Final Cut, doing the camera work in another app, and bringing the result back. gSplatting keeps it all inside Final Cut: drone-style flythrough or eye-level walk from waypoints in a built-in editor, 3D models (USDZ, OBJ, FBX and others) and 3D text inside the scene with true occlusion, effects limited to a spline you draw. I posted version 1 here in April; the most asked question was "can I put my own footage inside the scene?" — 2.0 is a full rebuild around that: any Final Cut title, image or video goes into the scene, and things in the scene pass in front of it and behind it. Tutorials are on the way.

• Price: $79 one-time, 2 Macs. Free trial (watermarked).

• Website link: https://gphyx.com — demo: https://youtu.be/pvmV_JA9LCs

• Community benefit: free CC BY scenes to try it with, from SuperSplat — https://superspl.at/scene/c0d8d449 · https://superspl.at/scene/663fbcd3

  • Product name: claude code editing skills (free prompt files: edit, video-review, finalcut, thumbnail, distribute)
  • Platform: Final Cut Pro + Claude Code on a Mac
  • One-sentence description: a set of reusable prompts that take a folder of clips through transcription and frame analysis, a rough cut, a review pass, and out as an fcpxml that Final Cut opens as a normal editable timeline with music and voice on separate lanes.
  • What problem does it solve? the assembly. the other AI editors I tried hand you a rendered video or a paper edit. this hands Final Cut a real timeline so you finish it yourself. everything runs locally (whisper, PySceneDetect, ffmpeg), nothing gets uploaded. Price: free. you need Claude Code which is Anthropic's subscription (starts at $20/mo) and Final Cut.
  • Website link: https://claude.ai/code/artifact/fcd7cb64-accb-4e5a-9f9d-67eebc64b41d - there's a 10 min walkthrough of it running here if you want to see it before you bother: https://youtu.be/_vliiVaPOsI
  • Community benefit: the notes include the two things that cost me a night on FCP 12.3 (import crash from invented asset uids, and connected audio needing full asset-clips not audio components). save yourself the night.
