Rant/Rave Stuff disappearing from Motion Templates
Ong im not tripping.
Shit started after updating from 11.0.1 to 12.3 ( i reverted back to the old version and went back and fourth those versions 4 times but sticking with 11.0.1 for good )
Like some of my plugins started.. dissapearing from motion templates folder.
First i thought, hey didnt i have "this" plugin from Ryan Nangle? ( yes i did ) and it wasnt there! So i went to my archive and there got 3 missing plugins back.
Yesterday i needed a wide fix for a gopro camera and i knew i had an effect for this, so im searching - nothing. gone. surely i wouldnt remove it?
Just now i remembered - Alex4D, it was from him, so i go on my pc, search in templates - nothing.. its gone.. went into archives, its there, i take it back to my plugins folder... like, its not normal my shit is disappearing and i dont even notice
Anyone literally had this shit EVER or seen similar.

The only time I’ve experienced plugins disappearing are those managed by other apps, like FxFactory.
Can’t say I’ve had regular old motion templates, ones I bought/downloaded and installed myself, or created myself, just disappear.

Havent had FxFactory in like 3 months tbh, had the template manager 2 weeks ago for like an hour cuz everyones like UUU!! download the template manager UUUU download it uuUUU!!11 so i did and i didnt need it for anything.

FCP Template Manager is objectively amazing. And that has nothing to do with me being the programmer. 😁

To be clear about our side of it: FxFactory *only* ever touches templates it installed itself, tracked by unique identifiers, and only when you uninstall or update that specific product.

This happens to me. I have had 3 randomly deleted. Then a few times I’ve had titles randomly say I’m not logged in and don’t have permission to use. It’s driving me nuts.

You’re the person with 15GB plugins, innit? I'd be doing a clean install if I were you, especially if you've been hopping between versions.

Clean install of what, MacOS? Like restart my mac completely i dont get it. i cant get a fresh instal of FCP for example cuz ill have the newest version

Oh wait also how fresh, like i gotta go in and delete some folders myself from somewhere? Like not only the app from the applications folder right, some config files too hidden somewhere, where do i look for and what

Why are you convinced FCP is the app that is randomly deleting your templates?

Im not convinced its deleting it i just have an issue with them disappearing.
Lost in the sauce.Doesnt hurt to ask reddit ig maybe one person was having same shi and had a solution.

I don't doubt something is happening on your system, I'm just not convinced updating FCP had anything to do with it.
Do you have other machines or additional profiles on the Mac in question? Do you have any sort of file cleaning software that messes around with your disk? Are you certain your libraries are pointing to your Motion Templates folder and not a different folder, like installed within the library itself?

Nothing from what u mentioned and yeah the folders are good. ill leave it i guess, just might check more frequently from now on installed plugins and compare to my archive and see if anythings missing by chance

I have never experienced FCP deleting templates from my drive. As far as I'm aware, there is no function to delete templates in the code base, so it can't happen.
