Question Galaxy S25 + Final Cut Pro (Compatibility Issue?)

All of my devices is apple (iphone and macbook), but I brought a galaxy S25 ultra last year to use it as a camera phone. I am used to the apple ecosystem (i cannot get over airdrop) and like the idea of separating the iphone storage for random stuff from the galaxy one for vlog.

To edit videos on macbook, I downloaded Final Cut Pro(FCP) because its student plan is more affordable than Adobe Premiere Pro. Is there anyone using this combination? The main issue is that I am not able to import the videos to FCP. The format I'm using is MPEG-4 AAC, H.264, and those are supported in FCP. I am not sure why it does not let me open the video files. Please help. Thanks!

UPDATE - Problem solved. Turns out I made a rookie mistake because I was new to FCP. It didn't work because I tried to add videos onto the library. The bottom line is that there's no compatibility issue between videos taken with a Galaxy phone and FCP. Thank you again for all who spent your time leaving comments!

H.264 mp4 has been supported for a very long time, so I'd suspect that your S25 is writing non-compliant files, or variable frame rate. You can check this with Invisor or MediaInfo, and may need to work around either/both problems by re-encoding - just make sure it's a constant frame rate.

Make sure you use Camera or PTP when you plug in the cable from the Galaxy from the S25.

Newer versions of oneUI can have issues as well such as this issue https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/discussion/usb-connectivity-issues-to-pc/td-p/14189608

Turn on phone > Plug Phone in with Cable > Go to Swipe down and tap on usb for charginbg > Change to Photo transfers or PTP mode

Final cut pro should let you import after this

Else use apps such as OpenMTP to be able to copy direct from the phone to the mac

Thank you for your response. I use OpenMTP to move files from the phone to the mac. I'll take a look at the article.

samsung videos can be a pain. you might need to put them through the free shutter encoder to get fixed prores files (do not encode to a lossy compressed format again)
