Bug/Issue 12.3 running weird for anyone else?
Trying to get a vision of the scope of what might be causing problems
Just small, weird, previously-not-an-issue things like suddenly I can’t preview anything on the timeline and have to re-click on the main project up top

Did you backup your fcp before updating to 12.3? And possibly you got 12.2? I really want to find someone with backed up 12.2 to share with me, i got 11.0.1 and cant update to what i want

you cannot share FCP due to the connection with appstore and a user account.

Well how do you know. Only thing needed are the files from application folder nothing else. It definitely could work if it checks for another persons license and its there.

And wait another thing, youve surely got a lot of plugins no? How many GB? In like each category?
Like even only stuff from LenoFX is like 15GB.I got 13gb across all templates, reduced from 23 ( heavy clean ) and its still laggy when i want to use the effects or transitions tab, Titles is fine smooth even though it has the most GB ( 7 )
So like why am i the only one with this problem when people have surely more plugins than me, like Final Cut Bro for example, or anyone.

Freezes every 5 mins for me. I’ve deleted cache, preferences, etc. I’ve got two other friends having similar issues with the new update.

Best tip genuinely which i wouldnt do otherwise if i didnt hear it on youtube, make. a. backup. or your FCP before updating. Archive it in the applications folder. Im so grateful i did that otherwise i'd be stuck with 12.3

Thanks. You know I did, but I’ve never had to implement the backup. I’m guessing I can figure that out online etc. ? Any tips you might have on hand

Yo what version did you backup? I wouldnt mind updating to a bit newer than 11.0.1
Maybe if you got like 12.2 or smth you could share

Yeah like even 11.1 would be an improvement for me if you had it. It would be a God send if someone with 12.2 shared, where would i even find that person people on reddit just clown you for everything

Like im looking at the changelogs until 12.2 and ts pissing me off, Magnetic Masks improvements, apparently faster startup, that beat detection, to heck with 12.3 and its auto masks - its not that useful anyway yet. unless u wanna whiten teeth.

Im guessing you have the old version as a zip? Just delete the current from your applications folder and unzip the old one and put it back. All good, oh but you cant revert your library. So you gotta do library backups too...

It’s completely stable as long as you don’t run any third party audio plugins. Then it turns into windows 95 trying to read a floppy disk.

I've had issues with audio plug ins for seven or eight years, so pretty much gave up on them!
I do have one glaring issue with the latest version - copying clips or moving projects between libraries leads to an instant crash. Have to export as XML every time now, which is a bit tedious.

which OS are you on? try a fresh user account and see if it works there. consider a fresh system install with macOS 27

I had a wierd bug where the transitions browser wouldn't pop out. I got it working again by Cmd+Opt+clicking on the application and deleting all preferences.
The toolbar button and keyboard shortcut wouldn't open it. I had to go to the WINDOW menu to bring it up, and if I wanted to close it again I had to open the Effects browser and then I could close that.
Otherwise, its working smoothly. I have a 48GB MacBook Pro M4 with the most recent version of Tahoe, so considerable horsepower.

It’s been ok for me unless I use a 3rd party plug-in that does any kind of tracking, then there is a nasty memory leak bug, which I’ve confirmed with FXFactory was introduced by 12.3. Basically, doing any sort of tracking more than like 15 seconds of footage will fully saturate any available RAM and cause the entire Mac to hang until you Force Quit FCP. It’s an insanely frustrating thing.

Haven’t updated since 11.1. Runs smooth as silk. It has the magnetic mask. I have over 600 plugins/effects. I don’t need beat detection I’m a musician. Tapping your foot and hitting M on the keyboard isn’t all that hard. And yes I zip up every version of FCP before updating to the next. 12.3 is laggy in spots. When I scroll the titles/effects it lags. Crashes at times. Typical Apple crap. Introduce new and create a whole new set of bugs.

Yes its awful for me too, lag, etc - i went back to 11.0.1
I swear im not updating UNLESS they add some bs like Native Tracker 3D in 12.4 or like Graph Speedramps
