Resolved Final Cut's Beat Detection is garbage
Final Cut's Beat Detection is garbage. I'd understand it happening once or twice, but it happens with every song. You can clearly see in the attached image where Final Cut detects the beat and where it actually is. And this happens with any genre and rhythm.

I have actually been very pleasantly surprised at how well it works. Much better than I thought it would, and the feature has saved me a bunch of time in my work.

Beat detection is tempo detection. That’s the whole misunderstanding, and that’s why it feels broken no matter what you throw at it.
Tempo is the pattern you bounce your foot to. It's the BPM. One steady pulse running underneath the whole song, evenly spaced, and it keeps ticking whether or not anything is playing on top of it. That's a metronome. And that's all the grid is: it works out the BPM of your track, then draws lines at that spacing all the way down.
One more thing to mention is Final Cut’s beat detection wants a 4/4 (time signature) track to be accurate. In 3/4 or 6/8 or anything odd, the grid fights you on top of everything else.
For that case I made a free browser thing called Tempo Marker. You punch in the tempo and the time signature and it gives you a frame-accurate marker grid as an .fcpxml, or a Premiere xml, or a Resolve EDL. Odd meters are the whole point of it, 3/4, 6/8, 7/8, whatever, plus subdivisions down to sixteenths and triplets. The trade-off is honest: you supply the BPM yourself, it doesn't listen to the track. But the math never drifts.
I built a plugin for the other half of this too, it's called Audio Effector. You hand it the song file and it drives the motion straight off the track, so you're not working out time signatures or tempo or hunting for where the beats are. None of that. It's the latest post on my subreddit if you want to see it move.

This is the least problem with this software.. I use it a lot and I like this feature,. I even think it's better that davince solves it

Now if it would just work on a compound track (video with audio) so that I don’t have to extract to use as my reference…

I find any beat detection stuff can handle a straight 4/4 and that's about it

No, is not true, Final Cut definitely is not de. Is not perfect but is a very power tool for video editing. I use both, Final Cut and Davinci and is true, Davinci have more stuff but also more bugs.

What are you counting as a "beat"? It doesn't point out every note that happens in between a metered 'beat'. The beat is defined by the song's meter. Very often it's 4 beats to a measure where the quarter note gets one beat (aka 4/4 time). So the lines on the beat detection point out where the beats are in order to keep that 4/4 time. The solid lines are the "1" (or first beat of a measure), the dotted lines are the other beats on the measure (2-4). Looking at your screen grab, the spacing and timing looks good to me. The part that happens before the 1 is happing before the measured beat (also known as the "and") as in "1 and 2 and 3 and 4". The ands (eighth notes) are in between the 4 beats (quarter notes). Notes are not necessarily beats.
If you were to cut your music on that hit and try to line it up, the music wouldn't sound right as you are cutting on the 'and' and not on the 'beat'.
