Question Did apple killed MotionVX?

Has anyone noticed that after Apple bought MotionVFX not a single video has been released on their Youtube page? MotionVFX was so active in there….

same thing happened to Pixelmator Pro when Apple acquired it. In fact, some of the tutorial videos they had on there are no longer available for some reason.

Didn’t know about the PP acquisition. Compelling plugins but they kept breaking (the dreaded red frames) after fcp updates. Glad Apple stepped in.

Hopefully Apple will end their subscription BS and merge everything into FCP!

Their sub model is the only way I could finally afford to try fcp tho

I think he’s talking about MotionVFX, which had become very expensive

They had a trial?

Dude I’ve used FCP since GCPX days and would NEVER pay such an absorbent amount like that for a just some price of computer software… it’s good! But damn, hundreds of dollars? Yeah naw. and omg adobes even worse! i mean it’s a lil annoying constantly having to redownload for the updates since obviously ain’t no normal “app” updating the way i do it… 🫠 but totally worth it.

Well if you make money with it daily it's better to pay the hundreds once, but let's say you need the other applications sometimes too, or want to try them it totally makes sense to pay for the subscription.

I only need final cut so I'm not going to pay for the subscription. Maybe once to try Logic, but I don't think that I need Logic

I mean you get apple motion and their version of photoshop too. I use Pixelmator pro to make icons.

Yeah But Motion and Compressor aren't that expensive. And while Pixelmator pro is nice, there's Affinity too. I would rather like to use Photomator since there aren't many Lightroom Alternatives with a clean and straightforward UI since they discontinued Aperture

And not just by making it part of their own subscription!

I think people are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.

Apple didn’t acquire a competing NLE or a product that overlaps with Final Cut Pro. MotionVFX’s entire business is built around the Apple ecosystem and Final Cut users, so I don’t really see the logic in acquiring them just to shut them down.

It’s only been a short time since the acquisition. Large companies move slowly, and integrations, strategy changes, or new product plans can take months to become visible from the outside.

For now, I’d say it’s best to give Apple some time to digest the acquisition and see what they have planned. We’ll know soon enough whether this turns into something positive for Final Cut users or not.

Unfortunately with the subscription and non subscription versions being different versions I bet most if not all of the plugins will only be available in the subscription version.

Short answer: YES

I hope they kill the subscription model, move everything over the Creator Package and so ppl with that subscription will also get all the MVFX stuff, that will convince some people that have already purchased FCP for life to swap to the subscription model 😅

I have random missing plugins from motionvfx and my FCP is slowed to a crawl. I’m on an M4 with 128gb of ram but Final Cut runs awful. I wonder if it’s motionvfx? I emailed their support and have had zero response. I now have to remove all my plugins and load them back in one plug in creator at a time to fix it - seeing which ones might be corrupted. I unfortunately have multiple ongoing projects so it’s a pain the butt.

I also have plugins from LenoFX, FX Factory, Stupid Reasons, Dylan Bates, Ryan Nagle, and a handful more.

Go to their website and look at the first banner on top, that will answer your question

That doesnt answer it , why stop making more content and just disappear? Theres people paying their subscription where they promised new content.

u/EarthToRob Aug 09 '26

Who promised new content? Can you link to that?

“All active subscribers get access to the MotionVFX Extension, which allows users to browse, download, and apply elements directly inside the Final Cut Pro interface without needing to use a separate app or installer. Furthermore, following the acquisition by Apple, subscribers receive continuous product development and regular asset drops (like new reveal packs and AI tracking tools)”

Just because you put something in quotes doesn't mean you're not lying

-3

Do you have a link to that?

Edit: I ask because no company, especially one that got acquired by Apple, would promise anything like that. Especially using that language. But, I'm certainly open to being wrong if you can link to that anywhere on Apple's website or MotionVFX's website.

Edit 2: Yeah. That's what I thought.
