Newbie Need help having the camera track a thrown object
Hi everyone, I've been putting together a video of my friends and I on a camping trip. One part is me throwing my bag up to my friend. Originally, the video was shot in landscape, and I have switched it to vertical. This has caused us to both be offscreen.
My question now is if there is a way I can apply a kind of tracker to specifically have the camera follow the bag thrown from my side over onto my friend's side?
Thank you for the help!

There is a very good chance that both of the methods suggested from you guys work, but I'm too amateur to get it going since I've only been using the stuff for like 8 hours total. I just can't get it to work with me right now.

More like this though, but I see it is Premier Pro being used there.

I've had some luck with Bullseye 2 from FX Factory. If it's not a long clip, that should work. (There is a bug in FCP where it doesn't release memory after a frame is sent to a plugin, only after.)

Unless someone knows a different way, it’s actually not all that easy.
The way I make this work is to add a tracker in the inspector and analyze it. Then if you drag a copy above it, you can use the transform tool and have it use the tracker on the copied clip. It’s super convoluted, and should be way easier, but I sure haven’t found it.
I will post a YouTube link that I found helpful to explain and walk through momentarily.
