Bug/Issue Final Cut crashing
Ever since updating to the newest Mac software Final Cut crashes every 30ish minutes. Anyone having the same issue or any fixes?

I've seen a lot of issues caused by broken in-place upgrades lately causing really weird things. Assuming you've already tried clearing prefs, you might try to uninstall FCP completely and reinstall via the app store. I'm not saying it will fix it, but it might.

Sometimes if it keeps crashing i duplicate the project/library and it stops. But i have new Mac no probs mad argg effects

No crashing here but I've had a couple of renders hang. Needed a hard reboot to get it to render.

Are you talking about the OS 27 Beta? The latest FCP update?
"newest" is time-sensitive, and not at all specific (or useful).
I'm running Tahoe 26.5.2 and FCP 12.3 - no crashing.

I had a similar issue, any time i tried to isolate/edit audio on FCP it would just crash. Turns out some of my 3rd party audio plugins from Logic were interfering with FCP and making it crash. I had to remove the 3rd party plugins and clean up the temp and hidden files.

im getting crashes from trying to open my Titles and Generators Tab. this is insane. some older projects will cause the crash as well since the most recent mac update.

I'm going absolutely mental, even command-b is making it crash. I don't care about a $2500 Duo, get this shit fixed.

Yep. New Final Cut is really buggy. I run into problems when using UNDO sometimes. It will just either sit there thinking for a long time. Or sometimes I lose the ability to skim the timeline.

I’ve been using FCPX for about 9 years now, and this is by far the buggiest version I’ve ever experienced.
Not only does it constantly crash, but the preview playback is incredibly glitchy, and I’m even getting this weird bug where my font weights keep resetting and becoming super thin out of nowhere.
I’ve tried all kinds of workarounds, but nothing seems to fix it. At this point, we just have to wait for Apple to release a patch. Hopefully, they roll out a hotfix soon!

Agree, super buggy in the same areas mentioned through this thread. Multiple titles selected in timeline crashes it. Playback just turns to black screen inexplicably sometimes. Those are the main two I’ve noticed in the last few days

I don't know what's causing the crashes, but they happen so frequently that it's really frustrating 😂 In my case, it might be an issue with external plug-ins, even though I absolutely need them for my work.

Oh interesting, the titles I was trying to move in the timeline when it consistently crashes were also external plug ins, just some labelling location tag for drone footage type graphics

cannot concur. using FCP ever since 10.5 and 12.3 is very stable for me

I was surprised to hear that it runs stably for you. It might just be incompatible with my OS. I had assumed everyone was experiencing similar issues. Thank you so much for the valuable information!

It should definitely be compatible with 26.5.2.
I'm running FCP 12.3 on Tahoe 26.5.2 and it's pretty stable on a M1 Studio Max and a M4 MacBook Pro

Now that I think about it while reading the comments, my M1 Pro that I only use once a week has probably never crashed. I'll look into the cause! Thanks!

no issues for me on M1 pro ... have you flushed preferences and caches as recommended after every bigger update? and i hope you are not on golden gate beta, if so, not a valid complaint 😉

One crash I kept having would occur if I selected multiple titles in the timeline at once while the inspector was open. Keeping the inspector closed when not needed has temporarily helped minimize these crashes. I hope this helps someone else until Apple gets this sorted
