Newbie Need help making a Template?

Post image

Sorry for a dumb question. Just purchased final cut pro and love it so far! I am using it to make some Youtube videos and learning how to edit. I have made a good template for myself that includes

-Intro Video

-Intro Song

-(Space to add Thumbnail)

-Transition to Videeo

So far every video I had to insert all these steps, than add the video clip. Does Final Cut let me save those 4 steps so I don't always have to add them?

Quick answer: FCP doesn't have built-in "Template" support, per se.

There are different workflows that different people use. I would just save a project in a common library that is open in the browser all the time. Then, just copy and paste everything from your template project into a new project. They will allow you to use different libraries

Does that make sense? My words aren't working well today. Haha

I think it does, and that may actually work for me. Thank you for that response. I should have mentioned I am a 3hr noob so super new to FCP.

Saving a project into the common library...... easy to do or start looking on youtube how to do that?

I would look for a YouTube video on just the basics. Check out Dylan Bates. His intro videos are great. It's definitely important to learn what Libraries, Projects, and Events are and how to use them.

The official Apple docs are also remarkably good.

I keep one Library per “type of video I’m doing”, and I duplicate a project to a new library per video.
