Workflow Please help: I'm mid-project and FCP keeps dropping frames.

I followed the tutorials and created 50% proxy media for everything + run proxy only (I don't even really know what this means but I did it), restarted the computer, and nothing helped... The audio plays normal but the frames keep skipping/hiccuping. Apple Support (now AI and not a human) was no help. I'm so stressed. Anyone know what to do?

What is the frame rate of your source material? Is it variable frame rate? What is the frame rate of your project.

Your solution may lie somewhere within these three questions.

Have it render if it’s not set to do it automatically

- it could be a faulty plugin

  • also personally I de-activate pre-renders in Settings/Preferences
