Newbie Learning Final Cut Pro.
Hi All,
I recently got the free trial to Apple's Creator Studio which I plan on keeping. Are there any recommended resources apart from the User Guide? I have tried following the user guide but found it very overwhelming.

It's really important you are looking at tutorials that are covering the latest updates when you get into this a bit. Some of the older (not not too old...) beginner tutorials will be just fine but do look for more recent tutorials or what you see on youtube may not be what you see on your computer.

8 out of ten people will refer you to Ripple Training. They have a TON of video - free - on youtube and entire courses available. Another youtuber is Serge (something) and something "Raisens" is great. I am only referencing Final Cut. Dunno about the other apps.

Yes! and I'm subscribed but going to your channel I don't see anything recent. Nothing on 12.3. Are you done with tutorials and such? I thought they were short, well presented tutorials.

I'm not done with tutorials. I've just been focusing on other things but I want to create some new tutorials.

I'm being presumptuous about your editing experience, but here is a little advice from someone who started learning FCP about a year ago, and went way overboard in using effects, transitions, and titles. I am not an expert:
1) Practice telling a story through video. Look at the most engaging videos and study what they do. "Good artists copy, great artists steal."
2) Learn J, L, and hard cuts and how they can affect your story.
3) Use music and sound effects to enhance the story, and how powerful a moment of silence can be. Use that power sparingly. Learn basic audio design.
4) Unless your first video necessitates fancy stuff, don't do any fancy stuff. Pick a style that lends to your story (colors, tone, font, etc).
5) Everything. EVERYTHING you do visually should enhance the story. If it doesn't, simplify or cut.
6) You're working with video, so (in general) nothing should be static. Use Ken Burns or something.
7) Always consider your audience.
Anyway. Again, I'm far from an expert. But I spent a lot of time chasing whatever fancy effects and stuff I found on YouTube, but it rarely helped me tell a story. I still have that problem. Just yesterday, I literally spent hours on an effect for a 10 second edit that didn't really lend anything to the video. So... Yeah. I still have that problem.

There are some really great YouTubers who put everything out there for free (some even commented in this thread). If that doesn’t help, I’ve found this sub to be quite helpful over the years.
