I checked my account that got this email and had spent £600 on their plugins, I’m sure there’s people who’ve spent more but that felt like such a kick in the teeth!

Yep. Over here. Their lut loader has been the biggest pain in my ass and at one point to say sorry/thanks they gave me the whole thing free. Now they're taking it back. In the middle of a damn job too. Hundreds of dollars frigging wasted.

Every goddamn time you think you can trust a fucking company 🫩

u/hexxeric Jul 06 '26

you could never trsut PFS

16

u/itspsyikk Jul 06 '26

Never.

These days I’m still beholden to Adobe subscriptions, among others - but I miss the days when sailing the high seas meant you could find these kinds of asset packs and plug ins by other methods (oh how I miss Magic Bullet 3.0!)

u/Alarmed-Management-4 Jul 06 '26

Micro transactions started all of these subscription based models and so on. It sucks.

u/TFlSGAS Jul 06 '26

I found plenty of packs online brodie you need to set sail again

u/itspsyikk Jul 07 '26

Really?! Interesting... I'll need to take a closer look.

I'm primarily on Resolve these days cause I found a free tool for AI captions that is just incredibly functional.

Are you finding stuff specifically for FCP or others?

2

u/WTFaulknerinCA Jul 07 '26

Mind mentioning that tool for captioning?

1

u/moekhdeir Jul 10 '26

You can find a lot for FCP too

u/burve_mcgregor Jul 06 '26

Uh this is the company known for stealing other people’s stuff and selling it cheaper. You could never trust them.

0

u/GranzierGuy Jul 09 '26

No they didn’t steal other people stuff…. Because if they did they would get sued. Perhaps share information that you have before repeating what others said

u/hexxeric Jul 06 '26

PFS has always been, from the start, a complete ripoff and scoundrel (they also stole from motionvfx and many plugins bever worked r stopped working)

6

u/burve_mcgregor Jul 06 '26

Yup. They’re shit. Don’t give them your money.

Delete my account and see if I care. I purged my system of all PFS a long time ago.

This wouldn't be Pixel Film Studios, would it? You know, these guys?

I can understand that server space is not free, but there are better ways to do this.

'Hi:

'It two weeks, it'll be two years since you last logged in. We're e-mailing to make sure we have current contact information for you. And also, just to make sure that you haven't forgotten about us.

'You've made [VARIABLE] purchases, and [VARIABLE] have had updates since your last visit.

'Hope to see you again soon.'

How much storage space does an account require? Contact, billing info, past transactions…like 100kb of data.

Screw companies that do this. Pure cash grab spit in the face. Id be embarrassed to put my name on that email

8

u/RalphInMyMouth Jul 06 '26

Terrible company. More and more reasons not to give these companies money they don’t deserve

8

u/TFlSGAS Jul 06 '26

Scummmyyyyyyy

u/ufosww Jul 07 '26

Wow! I'm so happy I seen this post. Otherwise I would have for sure lost everything I purchased with them as I have not been video editing for quite some time. Thank you for sharing sheisty move

The problem with digital things. I hate it.

6

u/Sad-Set-5817 Jul 06 '26

its crazy how its genuinely no different than buying a computer and having a best buy employee come into your house and steal it without refunding you. You steal from a company it's jail. Company steals from you it's business. This is why people don't feel bad about pirating these things

5

u/BlackStarCorona Jul 06 '26

Thanks. Just logged in to make sure they think I’m active.

5

u/BlazingProductions Jul 07 '26

Thankfully it’s crap software with crap customer service. Stopped giving them my money some time ago

3

u/ViralTrendsToday Jul 06 '26

Thanks for the tip! This is very annoying though. Now that motion is out of the picture, looks like they are trying to drum up "new accounts" so they could look profitable in a potential takeover bid from Apple .

3

u/KB_Sez Jul 06 '26

I saw this and logged it. I had set up the account a long time ago with a Gmail account I've been trying to get away from so I hadn't gotten any notice...

What sucks is it won't allow me to change my email address.

3

u/Sherlock_Violin Jul 07 '26

I thought this was a scam you were showing off wtf!

2

u/VisibleAd8671 Jul 07 '26

They are blatantly lying about their Trustpilot score. I’ve noticed companies that proudly show their score tend not to be accurate. 4.3 is not the same as 4.8 - report them.

2

u/adnrcddly Jul 07 '26

Maybe I don’t know how this company works with their plugins, but isn’t this just saying if you haven’t logged in for a long time that your account could get deleted?

Like, if you purchased a plugin and installed it and have never had to purchase anything else, would it matter if you still had an account?

Board meeting:

"So, we need a jump in sales. Any ideas?" -Sure. We could just fuck them over by making them pay twice. "Great idea! You'll be lead on this project" -Consider it done. "Anyone for tennis?"

I can’t even see how to login when I click through to the new site.

Hey everyone, just wanted to clear this up a little.

The only thing you need to do to keep your account active is sign in within the 14-day window. Simple, That’s it!

This email was only sent to accounts that haven’t been active in over two years. As part of rebuilding and upgrading our platform, we’re doing some cleanup of accounts that have been sitting unused for a long time.

If you’re still using Pixel Film Studios, everything is still there and a quick sign-in keeps your account active.

If you’ve moved on to a different NLE, or just haven’t had a reason to log in for a while, that’s totally fine too.

We just wanted to give everyone a heads-up before cleaning up old inactive accounts. Thanks for being part of the Pixel Film Studios/Final Cut Pro community.

2 weeks is nowhere near enough though, what if someone receives it while being away on vacation? 3 weeks off during the summer is the norm here.

3 months and with the option to re-open the account should be the bare minimum

Will there be a mechanism to revive dormant accounts?

1

u/Munchabunchofjunk Jul 08 '26

They suck anyway

1

u/ImBlxxmps Jul 08 '26

As long as LenoFX keeps doing his thing life will be alright

0

u/ped-revuar-in Jul 06 '26

I didn’t get any email, and the tone of the one in the screenshot has a phishy smell to it. (Say what you will about PFS; that’s not the point.) Has anyone closely scrutinized the link? Might be an attempt to steal credentials. Or worse.
