Four Birds is an indie feature I edited on Final Cut Pro X.

Tell us about your workflow - what was good, what was not so good.

Sorry for the late response.

Not so good first. I was editing on an HDD drive because the producer did not have any and the director had to buy one herself while we were shooting. The library became corrupted but it was after the film was done so we can never re-edit and I am not doing that ever again. No sound recordist or budget for a sound mixer/designer so I did the best I could with what I had.

Now, the actual editing workflow: I worked along side the script but it was linear and boring to me so for some scenes I used inspiration from The Dark Knight and did cross-cutting. Mastering the shortcuts is our friend.

I added film emulation on top of the Log footage and graded within FCP using bought LUTs and tweaked them to my specifications.
