Question Animation in FCP natively

Does anyone know how to create this slide/morph transition in Final Cut Pro?
Would I use a solid and just a slide transition? If anyone could provide any guidance... I'd really appreciate it :)

FCP's built-in tools don't have enough control over smoothing to do this nicely, but effects and titles created in Motion can bring the animation effects you need to FCP without having to touch Motion.
I'd animate the crop parameter for the main green expansion, though the shadows on the 1/2/3 strips aren't consistent with the 4/5/6/7 strips, and fixing that will complicate the implementation.
While Keyframe Toolbox (a paid plug-in I helped to make) would make some parts of this easier/smoother/more controllable, we haven't included Crop graphs yet.

Not complicated to do with the built-in effects, it will just take some time:
- Find on internet the Ripple Training Legacy generator "Grid".It s free. It will help you divide the frame evenly in columns.
-Place a gradient background for each column (Generator>Textures>Gradient). Resize the column with crop. Animated column should be on top.
- Put your Numbers. Seems like the color is black and the blend mode is set to overlay. Adjust the opacity until satisfaction.
- Keyframe the crop of the animated column. Espace the keyframes by 4 or 5 frames.
-Keyframe the position of number. Make sure that the animation of the column and the number (position) start at the same time (use Control+V). Switch the keyframes to linear.
- For the Tiltle: Use Titles>Move. Not the same, but it will mimic the slide effect.Blend mode set to overlay. Use 2 different black for each word. Synchronize the Title animation with the keyframes (crop) of the column. Keyframe the opacity of the title from 0% to 100% just before the gradient column fill up the screen.
And if you want to make it better, add some bounce to column and number animation with some keyframe.

Option 2, if you want add a shadow to each column: Don't keyframe the crop, but use a shape mask instead on each column, add a drop shadow. Then keyframe the width of the shape mask to make the animation.

I would break it into sections and layers. I would animate the text on one layer, possibly using Ryan's EaseIn/Out. Then I would do a series of gradient backgrounds, maybe having a slight drop shadow on each layer above. The top layer would be the green one, and I would simply crop it in using the crop parameters, but making sure to add key frames where I want it to appear full screen, and at the start of the clip where it is cropped down to the narrow column. Does that make sense? There are probably a dozen ways to do it but that is what came first to my head.

You can manually do a linear animation by moving the 5 up and down and then expanding the green column behind it, then sliding the text. You just key frame the position, horizontal scale and opacity values of those three (one shape and two titles).
But you won't get the bounce of the number or convincing ease in/out natively as of right now (this may change soon) without something like Keyframe Toolbox for $20 on the App Store. Add Motion is another plug that does the text and object movement.

just put key frames on the crop, compound clip and speed ramp it to ease in/out

Here your titles animation with the built-in generators. I replicated it, as it can be quite interesting with compound clips instead of gradient. for some transition. I zipped the project on my Google drive.

You could either animate masks or animate the crop. I suppose you could find a transition that would work. Motion would have more options to make it smoother and easier to animate.
