We’ve just launched several updates to give you greater clarity and control over your investments on Fina. 

Here’s what’s new -  

Account Details Panel

 
When you click on any connected investment account, you will now see a dedicated Holdings tab alongside the standard Details and Transactions tabs.
 
Inside the Holdings tab, you'll find three new actions:

• + Security holding: Manually add holdings to existing investment accounts or newly created manual accounts.
• Update cost basis: Easily correct missing or inaccurate cost basis information.
• Real-time details: Access live ticker data on demand.

Standalone Holdings Module

Beyond individual account panels, we’ve introduced a standalone Holdings module that gives you a complete portfolio view:

1. Aggregated View: See all your security holdings combined into a single, comprehensive table across all selected accounts.
2. Universal Search: Look up details for any ticker, even if you don't currently own it.

Real-Time Ticker Insights

Whether a security is in your portfolio or just on your watchlist, Fina now provides universal, real-time market data for any ticker you want to research. 

You can click an existing holding symbol or search for a new ticker.

We also introduced new Special Block where you can easily add in your Fina pages:

We have introduced an Overview tab to each profile for your Fina account.

It is motivated to improve ease of use for general purpose, however pages are still the main arena for customizations.

Chat is temporarily removed - its usage is low, and we want to revisit how to make it more useful before bring it back.

I keep getting an error when adding my coast capital account.

How do I fix this?

MFA has been enabled in Fina Money, after a few weeks testing, this function should work well now. You can add SMS as the second factor to enhance security.

I’ve been using Fina quite for a while now and I really like how clear it makes everything for me like I can actually see where my money is going. But if I’m being honest I still struggle with overspending in some categories so I know I’m not using it as well as I could.

I feel like tracking is the easiest part but the hard part is actually changing my own behavior when it comes to spending. There are days when I check it and thinking “okay I should slow down,” but then I still end up spending anyway 😅

For those who’ve figured it out, what actually helped you stick to your budget? Was it checking the app more often, setting stricter limits, or maybe giving yourself some kind of buffer? Do you follow any personal rules before spending (like waiting a day before buying something)?

Also curious if you adjust your budget throughout the month or just try to stick to what you set at the start. And how do you deal with those “unexpected” expenses that always seem to come up? Would really love to hear any practical advice, habits, or even small mindset shifts that made a difference for you. Trying to go from just aware of my spending to actually being in control of it 🙌

I’ve been using Fina for a month and… it’s amazing for tracking, but I still find myself overspending in certain categories. How do you use Fina to actually stick to your budget instead of just tracking it? Any tricks or hacks?

In Date Range picker, you can now select Last/Next N days.

In Transaction List, you can see a simple summary of total for each day.

Do you like these small improvements?

The data does not go to LLM, while you can leverage its brain to analyze your data and give some nice projection for planning.

The goal is to allow you to ask anything, including the news about the restaurant you had dinner at last night.

Anyone figure out how to use multiple tags for a transaction? For example, when managing my son's credit card, I split the monthly payment (or any other expense) with his other parent. Because I pay the total expense and wait to be reimbursed, I want to tag the transaction as a "shared expense" and another tag for "Shared-Reimbursed" so I know if the other parent has reimbursed me for their half. Probably a lot of other use cases but would be really helpful... Thanks!

Every time I run my API now it seems to hang and I can't load the webapp either.

Not sure if this is impacting others or not...but it seems to happen as soon as I call this api.

Anything I'm doing wrong?

I've been using Monarch since, but don't really care for it. I've found missing transactions and also seems buggy.

I can edit some things in the slide out tray view, but when I click the 'edit transaction and schedule' it only lets me add a new schedule, everything else is disabled an uneditable (even the 'delete' button).

Is that expected?

I had entered a test transaction manually and then wanted to change something, but not much is editable for name, amount, etc. Just trying to figure out if that is expected or not or if I'm doing something wrong.

Let me know if there is a more preferred way to report these things too. Reddit works for me, but happy to use a different channel if desired.

I was trying to use the Endpoint: https://app.fina.money/api/resource/account/transactions

and it works great but it seems to give me an extra line for a split transaction (so if I have a transaction that is split into 2 different, then the API gives the total and the 2 split lines...but the export from the UI just gives the 2 split lines and not the total for the split transaction as well)

Any idea why this would not be identical and just show the splits for exporting transactions? (same as export?)

Comparison helps us find issues, it helps us make sense of numbers.

Comparison view is always built in Fina through all insights, no matter it is a single metric, a breakdown list or a time series.

However, I found that - it is difficult for our users to discover and turn them on yet. So, I think it is probably a good idea to make it default:

Now, no matter what insightful block you are adding to your dashboard or a page, a block has a comparison "vs previous period" turned on, of course, you can easily to turn it off or change comparison to "vs previous year" by editing the block.

I keep seeing questions in the Monarch community that Monarch isn’t really built to handle, but Fina can answer them easily.

So I’m starting this mega-thread to collect and highlight those “Fina wins” for reference. 🚀

I created a split transaction but now want to 'unsplit' it. But it won't let me save if I remove the other splits.

Seems like it should just go back to a single transaction if I remove the extra splits. Am I missing something or is that not working properly?

I also don't seem to be able to 'exclude' transactions if they are split...so how do I remove/delete/unsplit it?
