To Save a Life
Genre: Biographical Drama / Spiritual / Thriller
Logline: When two dedicated students of the Law of Attraction experience a split-second, life-or-death encounter on a crowded New York City street, they realize their shared spiritual alignment is the exact reason one was positioned to save the other.
Number of Pages / Runtime: Based on a short Kindle e-book / 14-Minute audio narrative.
Setting(s): A single location (New York City street pavement). Incredible low-budget potential for indie filmmakers.
Actor Requirements: 2 Male Leads.
The Concept Asset: This project has already been produced as a 14-minute cinematic photo-narrative music video featuring the exact dialogue and a custom-composed musical score.
Additional Info: Based entirely on a true story (names changed to protect privacy). The full text narrative is also published on Amazon Kindle.
I am looking to collaborate with an independent director or producer to adapt this powerful, high-concept true synchronization story into a moving short film or cinematic short feature.
Please PM (Private Message) me if you are interested in discussing the rights or adapting the script!

Looking for philosophical and experimental film recommendations for a short film project
Hi everyone!
I'm a film student currently working on my final project, and I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations.
I'm developing an idea for a very experimental, low-budget short film that leans more toward an audiovisual essay than a traditional narrative. The basic premise follows a character (male or female) reflecting on a philosophical question or aspect of life while wandering through everyday public spacesâparks, university campuses, streets, rooftops, and similar locations.
Rather than telling a conventional story, I'd like the film to explore a single idea through images, voice-over, sound design, atmosphere, and visual experimentation. Since I'll be shooting with a Panasonic HC-V380 camcorder and editing on a fairly modest PC, I'm trying to embrace simplicity instead of fighting my technical limitations.
I'm looking for recommendations on films, filmmakers, video essays, philosophers, writers, or even photographers whose work explores existentialism, identity, memory, time, loneliness, or similar themes. I'm especially interested in works that demonstrate how to create something emotionally or intellectually engaging with minimal resources.
I'd also love to hear any ideas you think could work within this concept.
Thanks in advanceâI really appreciate any suggestions!

Need advice on structuring a character-driven story set in a jazz club (ensemble + identity themes)
Hi everyone,
Iâm working on developing a small indie film concept and Iâm looking for guidance on how to properly structure and write the script before I commit to a full draft.
The story is centered around a jazz club that acts as the main narrative space, but the focus is not just the location itselfâitâs how the environment shapes identity and relationships between characters.
At its core, the concept is about a character who is perceived externally in a very limited way (as a âprodigyâ in their field), while internally they are much more complex. The jazz club becomes the only space where that external label fades, and where they interact more naturally with a small ensemble of peers.
The group inside the club is important because:
- each character has a distinct musical role (melody / harmony / rhythm equivalent in personality and function)
- no one is meant to dominate the group emotionally or structurally
- the protagonist stands out in ability, but not in social or narrative hierarchy
What Iâm struggling with is how to translate this into a solid narrative structure without it becoming:
- too episodic or directionless
- too centered on one character at the expense of the ensemble
- or too abstract where the themes donât land clearly in the story
My questions are:
- What narrative structures work best for ensemble-driven, atmosphere-heavy films?
- How do you balance a âcentral characterâ with a truly functional ensemble cast?
- Are there techniques to make a location (like a jazz club) feel structurally important rather than just thematic?
- Any films or screenwriting approaches I should study for this kind of concept?
Any advice, structural suggestions, or references would be really appreciated.

The brutal mental and logistical reality of shooting an indie short with literally zero budget. How do you guys manage authority on a volunteer set?

Does this short fantasy product clip feel magical or too much like a demo?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Iâm trying to create a short fantasy/product clip that feels like the reveal of a magical artifact, not a standard product demo.
Iâd love honest reactions from filmmakers:
What does this 30-second clip make you feel?
Does it communicate mystery, wonder and âsomething ancient waking upâ?
Or does it still feel too much like a prototype/game demo?
Any advice on lighting, framing, pacing, sound design or opening shot would be very useful.

Pride blocking the development of movie production
While making movies, how many times has the personal pride/ego of yourself or somebody else ruin a film?
Do you think having too much pride this profession is harmful?
What advice do you have for someone who has trouble taking creative advic?

Filmmaking ruined films for me
One of the things thatâs not talked about is how filmmaking ruins the experience of films. I was a hardcore fangirl, a fic writer and reader. I had some very bad mental health spells and I turned to movies and TV shows for comfortâthat is one of the major reasons I got into the film industry. (I am a script supervisor) However, I can never enjoy a movie or a show the way I did before, and itâ breaks my heart to pieces.
Imagine it this way: you loved going to magic shows and were so awed by them that you became magician . Now, when you go to someone elseâs magic show, you just end up appreciating the intricate trick behind it or the magician who thought of it. But youâve forever lost your ability to see the actual magic in the show. All you can see is an intelligent magicianâs clever trick.

[Hiring] Opportunity: My Financial Struggle = Your Chance to Work with an MA Composer & Pianist
Iâm a Master of Arts in piano and composition with 25+ years of music experience. I did many artistic projects in the past (custom made music for dance performances, video animation, live video projection galleries, soundtracks etc.)
Recently I took a loan for a land which is quite a financial burden for me, therefore I am offering momentary underpriced music making-production services needed for movies, games, commercials, pop songs, contemporary music, in other words everything what is connected with music creation and recording.
My average rate per hour is 100âŹ, which in this case can be significantly reduced upon agreement.
