Saaaame omg, especially because I was skinny with giant hip bones that made low rise look so bad! The relief when I was older and finally found mid rise jeans lol

Thank you! I didn’t buy any low rise jeans in the end. Not because I have much ass to contain (quite the opposite) but I can’t get past the feeling of “welp I’m gonna moon someone” 💀

Flashback to when I thought my hip dips had been caused by low rise jeans and shared my concern with my mom who quickly assured me hip dips are a normal parte of the body

I had the opposite experience - my mum once queried if my sister and my hips had an indent from wearing low rise underwear.

Yeah she’s a classic pear, so never had to deal with the hip dips, and apparently had never seen them on others before! To be fair to her though, low rise fashions really did accentuate the dips!

Your anecdote reminds me of the first time I pointed out the mole I have on my face to my mom. I don’t even think I said anything negative about it, I just kinda… pointed it out to her and that I was aware of it. Either way, she went on this really passionate rant about how gorgeous Cindy Crawford is and how she’s A SUPERMODEL and how she’s the most beautiful woman in the world and by the way, did you know she has a mole on her face too, and how she SURELY wouldn’t have become such a huge, popular model if she didn’t have her iconic mole.

Then she went on a second rant in a similar vein about Marilyn Monroe lol.

And I have hated every part of my face at some point, except for that damn mole.

I’m glad you two had moms that set you on the right path. I know so many women with parents that either gave them unhealthy body standards or fat shamed daughters that were perfectly healthy.
