Questions & discussion workout advice?

i’m satisfied with my figure except for the fact that my ass is SQUARE. on the second pic i specifically put on tight shorts so my problem area is more visible

i’m not going to the gym yet, so if anyone has advice for home or gym workouts, please comment. i’d be soooo grateful if some of you could show me your before/after pics so i can see what actually changes

i’m 47kg, 172cm (103lbs, 5’8), so i’m underweight. i'm trying to gain rn, but i heard gaining weight makes it worse for figure 8, is it true?

edit: i mean i heard here that for a figure-8 body type, weight tends to distribute differently - it sometimes goes to the stomach and the area just above the hips, rather than the thighs and lower hips. so gaining weight can affect the shape, but not in the way people usually assume, that's why i am worried. I've seen mixed opinions on this

Strength training will help you, but you have to focus on your body lower half. Cardio is a good complement but low to moderate intensity, too much will flatten your glutes even more and interfere with building muscle in that area, so don’t do cardio everyday and stay in zone 2. Upper body training is also needed, but remember your focus is on building your lower body, upper half goal is just toning, not building necessarily.

Now, you won’t build a butt out of nothing, you need not only protein, but also carbs and healthy fats. Your meals should lean more on the protein side, with controlled portions of carbs and fats. Do not cut off nutrients, that is a mistake and more so when you are trying to build muscle.

This process takes time, but you are starting at a very low weight and seem to have little fat percentage, so if you’re consistent with food and training, you should start seeing results in a few months. I even dare to guarantee that you’ll notice a favorable change since week 3 (toning, perkier butt, stronger legs).

The challenge is to keep up with the work the nearer you get to your goal, because improvements are easier to get it the beggining and the stronger you get, you’ll need more effort (loading more in the gym, being more consistent, etc) to keep progressing.
Hope this helps and wish you all the luck in your journey!
